There’s a similar leafy outlook from the kitchen, which has sleek cabinets and counters, and space to enjoy casual meals and lively conversation. The separate dining room is a fitting setting for more formal mealtimes, with period furniture and pretty windows. A bespoke wooden staircase leads up to the first floor – the snug on this level is perfect for anyone who wants to unwind with favourite TV shows and console games. When it’s time to sleep, there are three inviting bedrooms to choose from. The first is a large king-size suite with dual aspect windows and an en-suite shower room, the second is a twin room with garden views and the third is a double room. A stylish family bathroom completes the accommodation. Your living space extends outdoors, where a seating area is surrounded by mature gardens and stunning views of the mountains and countryside. There’s storage space for bikes, and ample off-road parking so you can explore at your leisure.
Follow the trails around Llangorse Lake (7 miles) on foot or by bike; the largest natural lake in Wales, it’s a centre for water sports and fishing too. Visit the cathedral town of Brecon (5 miles), famed for its Georgian architecture, castle and waterside walks or head 9.5 miles in the opposite direction to Crickhowell, an historic crossing point over the River Usk at the foot of Crug Hywel. The Usk Valley Walk is virtually on your doorstep and links these two towns as it continues eastwards to foodie-favourite Abergavenny (15 miles).
