About this house rental

Summary:

Towering redwoods frame your private hot tub as steam rises into the forest canopy. This dog-friendly hillside retreat sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms, with multiple decks for soaking in the mountain views. Just 2 miles from Cazadero General Store, 15 minutes to Guerneville's restaurants. The firepit glows as evening fog drifts through the trees — your secluded world awaits.

The Space:

Spend mornings on the deck as mist lifts off the Russian River, afternoons floating the river or visiting Korbel and Joseph Jewell tasting rooms, and evenings around the firepit with the day's bottles.

A leather recliner and upholstered seating face the stone fireplace beneath the wall-mounted TV, a wood mantel adding warmth. A terracotta accent wall warms the space; track lighting traces the beams overhead. Speckled granite counters and a four-seat island make the kitchen the spot where breakfast starts and dinner planning happens. Tile underfoot keeps the lodge feel.

OUTDOOR LIVING

The upper deck features a dining table under a bright red umbrella for forest-view meals. The lower brick paver patio centers on a square fire table with woven seating — ideal for evening cocktails under the stars. An established vegetable garden with raised beds and white picket fence adds charm, while artificial turf provides a clean play space for dogs and kids.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Four bedrooms and three full bathrooms sleep up to eight guests. Two king bedrooms — one with blue bedding and dark wood furniture, the other in light neutral tones. Two queen bedrooms follow, one in coral and one in warm beige and gold. All feature carpeted floors, ceiling fans, and forest views.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

-- Private hot tub

-- Gas fireplace in living room

-- Gas grill for outdoor cooking

-- Full kitchen with modern appliances

-- Enclosed yard (dog-friendly)

-- Smart lock entry

Guest Access:

Climb up to a wall of windows on the upper level — treehouse-feel, towering evergreens, and a stone fireplace under exposed beams — then drift out to the private hot tub on the deck. You've got the whole home, dogs welcome, with an enclosed yard, outdoor dining, and a BBQ. Punch in the keypad code on arrival; up to six cars fit on-site (the garage stays closed).

The Neighborhood:

Your Cazadero retreat sits in the heart of Sonoma County's most secluded redwood canyon, where Austin Creek winds through towering coast redwoods. Just 2.1 miles away, Cazadero General Store provides essentials and local character. For heartier provisions, Bartlett's Market in Monte Rio is 4.4 miles, while Safeway in Guerneville is 4 miles for full grocery runs. Adventure surrounds you — hike the Islands in the Sky Trailhead (4.1 miles), explore Patterson Point Preserve (3.3 miles), or head to the famous Goat Rock Beach (5 miles) where the Russian River meets the Pacific. Wine lovers can taste at nearby Porter-Bass Winery (5.7 miles) or the renowned Korbel Winery (5.8 miles). Dining options cluster in nearby Guerneville: grab authentic Mexican at Guerneville Taco Truck (3.9 miles), upscale comfort food at Saucy Mama's (3.7 miles), or fresh sushi at ZENSHI (3.9 miles).

Getting Around:

Cazadero is about an hour and 45 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a scenic drive into a quiet redwood canyon. You'll have parking for up to 6 vehicles in the driveway. A car makes the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast easy to explore, from redwood groves to coastal bluffs. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.

Other Things to Note:

While there's no air conditioning, the home stays naturally cool thanks to the redwood canopy and mountain elevation — ceiling fans in bedrooms provide additional comfort. Your two dogs are welcome! Please follow these guidelines: never leave pets unattended, keep them off furniture, use a mat under water bowls, wipe paws when entering, and always clean up waste while keeping pets out of garden beds. The smart lock makes arrival easy, but cell service is spotty so save your access code before arriving. The vegetable garden is established and thriving — feel free to harvest any ripe produce during your stay! Internet is available, though many guests embrace the digital detox that Cazadero naturally provides. The firepit creates magical evenings — firewood availability varies seasonally — ask your host. The primary renter must be 21 or older.

We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed all the property and area had to offer. The kitchen is fully equipped and allowed us to make delicious meals. We enjoyed the hot tub, corn hole and indoor games. We all slept well in the comfortable beds and stayed warm with the two fire places. The beach is not far away where we went for walks. We also hiked in the redwoods and had a few meals in the small near by towns.

Great place to spend a week with friends. We had a couple of under 3's and parents and there was plenty of room for all. The kids didn't wake anyone but their own parents when they couldn't sleep. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking many different dishes. You are secluded but not too far from a a grocery store or a restaurant. Cons: There are 3 bathrooms, but only 2 showers. There was a leak from the ceiling in the living room, caused by the rain which was concerning. The provided towels were a bit small for a anyone larger than average.

We had a great time at this property, however; we would not stay again. Pros: great location, excellent outdoor living areas, nice downstairs common areas. Cons: cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The carpet is dirty, kitchenware was far below subpar (Food on plates and utensils, chipped cups/plates and only 8 of any utensil). The linens were not clean- lots of hair on towels/sheets,etc. NONE of the bedrooms or bathrooms had a solid door- almost all had glass doors with gauze curtains, which do not provide any privacy at all. The windows in the bathrooms have no covering at all to the outdoors. There were no sufficient cleaning supplies for us to clean the areas, either. We could not find a vacuum or bleach or general surfactant. The paper goods (paper towels/toilet paper) were one ply. The vents in the upstairs floor are simply windows to the lower level- there is no subfloor or hvac. When the lights/tv are on in the living area below, it is loud and brightly shining through the vent. All bathrooms need a serious update. There is only hot water for one shower/laundry/dishwasher at a time. Like I said, we enjoyed the beautiful yard.
