About this house rental
In Mauriac, Cantal, between the Puy Mary—the southernmost volcano of the Auvergne chain—and the Dordogne gorges, winding from the Bort-les-Orgues dam to the Aigle dam through beech, chestnut, oak, and boxwood forests, we offer you flexible accommodation (gîte or guest rooms) in a renovated former barn. This independent property is close to our home in a secluded hamlet.
Whether you seek relaxation surrounded by unspoiled nature and farm animals, or wish to enjoy active exploration of this wild area, its gastronomy, rural lifestyle, or medieval architecture, you are sure to discover unexpected richness and a change of scenery to match your expectations.
For relaxing moments, you can enjoy contemplative walks alone or with our two donkeys, Pivoine and Tulipe, and their shepherd Suki. Fishing along the Dordogne and swimming at the region’s many lake beaches are also possible.
For more active pursuits, choose from challenging hikes—possibly over several days with pack donkeys and camping—river trekking, fishing in mountain streams, climbing on equipped sites, seasonal gardening in our vegetable patch, and preparing and sharing our produce.
You can also enjoy many local activities: visiting farms, cheese dairies, castles, picturesque villages, canyoning, rail biking, boat trips on the Dordogne, or the Gentiane Express train.
Cleaning is available for an extra fee. A daily electricity allowance is included; extra charges may apply if exceeded.
