The village boasts two pubs, one of which is a gourmet pub and has been awarded the Wensleydale Heifer 2006/07 AA 'England's best seafood pub' award, as well as a well stocked village shop and a pretty green. Across the valley from the village stand the imposing ruins of Castle Bolton, while Leyburn, with its wide range of amenities and weekly market, Middleham, with its Norman Castle, famous racing stables and pretty old market square surrounded by delightful shops, pubs and restaurants, and the picturesque Aysgarth Falls, are just a short drive away.
