Well-developed hiking and cycling trails such as the Rotkäppchenland railway cycle path, the Schwalm cycle path and the Fulda cycle path offer a variety of tours through nature and culture. In addition, numerous museums characterise the region and provide exciting insights into its history and special features.
Another highlight is Bad Hersfeld, just a few kilometres away. The town boasts an impressive half-timbered old town and a wide range of spa, cultural and leisure facilities. The abbey ruins, the largest Romanesque basilica north of the Alps and also the largest Romanesque church ruins in the world, are particularly worth seeing.
