The Golden Ball Hotel Pods

Lovely location, very relaxing

The property was clean and tidy, location was brilliant

Not much to not like.

The location was exceptional, so beautiful. We knew the Pod would be compact and having a patio/balcony attached to the Pod was an added welcome addition. With the view of the wet lands/ mud flats and tucked among trees made for a relaxing pleasant evening watching the birds and wild fowl. Along with the dogs welcome policy and set in the grounds of a Hotel and restaurant made our decision to book Golden balls Pod. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.

First impressions absolutely matter. Yes it was compact, the shower, toilet and sink taking up only about a 2’ x 4’ space. The small sink was the only source of water, filling the kettle was not ideal. There is a small empty cupboard under the tea station area but no crockery or glasses to have a few nibbles and a drink while sitting on the patio looking a the beautiful vista. A suggestion would be use the cupboard to store a few glasses /crockery and change the old fashioned cup and sauces to modern mugs, for guests to enjoy a relaxing drink while sitting outside admiring the exceptional view. For a compact space the table and 4 high back chairs took up a large area unnecessarily in my opinion. A smaller rectangle table with bench seats tucked underneath works well in other pods we have stayed in. The Pod looked tired and would benefit from a bit of TLC. Where there should have been a pair of curtains across the door one was missing, a small gap at the bottom of the door I think would be an issue especially on cold wet days. The plug cover in the storage cupboard needs attention , the roller blind child safe connector was broken and the stains on the fabric of the setting area did not impress on arrival.

The pods were cute. Smaller than we expected. Nice view over the river

All a bit tired. The sofa bed wasn’t very clean. Stains on the fabric which put me off wanting to sleep on it. The door to the shower wet room wouldn’t close properly. Peeling paint. In need of some TLC.
