Gemütliche Wohnung im Kölner Norden

Our host Andrea was so warm and welcoming (and we loved meeting her huge but sweet dog Anubis!), and we had no trouble at all communicating with her in English :) The apartment was comfortable, clean, and really well-equipped - lots of towels, toilet paper, bed linen, even lots of toiletries, and a compact but complete kitchen including a dishwasher. The windows have electric outside shutters so the rooms can be made totally dark. The location was also good for us, the apartment is located on the ground floor of a large house (owners live upstairs) in a nice and fairly green suburban neighbourhood. We could park our car for free in front of the house and it was a 10min walk to the local train station where a frequent train takes you straight into the city centre (Köln Hauptbahnhof, next to the Dom) in less than 20min. There was a supermarket and other local facilities a 15min walk away. And we were just an 8min drive away from the Aqualand Freizeitbad which is definitely a recommendation with kids! We especially loved the enormous garden (/yard) at the back of the house, with lots of space for our kids to play in the grass, and a variety of chairs, balls, badminton rackets etc that guests may use from the shed - we were lucky enough to get some wonderful weather while we were there, plus we have a toddler who is currently obsessed with going outside, so we were very happy to be able to use the garden. (There is a small pond behind some high grasses/bushes that of course you need to be careful of with a small kid.) All in all, a great place to use as a base for a few days in Köln, and we would definitely stay here again if we return at some point!

The Booking.com ad is not totally clear about the bedroom setup, it is referred to as a 2-bedroom apartment but keep in mind there is one spacious bedroom with a double bed (plus we had the baby cot in there) and then in the living area there is a sofa that can be turned into a double bed. This was ok for us (and I suspected in advance this was probably the situation), but the ad could be a little more clear about this.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr gepflegt und räumlich sehr gut aufgeteilt. Es fehlt an nichts, die Küche ist komplett ausgestattet sodass man auch kochen kann. Die Eigentümerin ist sehr freundlich und lieb, wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt

Hier kommt man gerne immer wieder. Schöne und bedacht eingerichtete Wohnung mit allem was man braucht.

Last minute booking so we arrived after 11pm. Host was there to greet us. 2 rooms so plenty of space for our family of four.
