DuPont Suites

I stayed at this hotel for three nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what the photos and descriptions suggested. The first room I was given was on the first floor, which is actually below ground level. The design was nothing like the pictures online — it was dark, outdated, and honestly pretty hideous. But the real issue was the carpet, which smelled strongly of mildew. The odor was so overwhelming that I couldn’t sleep in the bed and ended up spending the night in the bathtub just to escape the smell. The next morning, I went to the front desk to request a new room. There was no apology or sense of concern from the staff, but they did switch my room which I was thankful for. I did not let the attitude of annoyance effect me because I was not going to risk my health spending another day in that room. The second room, located on the third floor, was an improvement only slightly. It smelled like cigarette smoke, which wasn’t great, but it was still better than mildew. The design was a bit easier on the eyes but that was not saying much. I went to open the window to get fresh air to help with the old, stale smoke smell at least a little but couldn’t open the window because it was bolted shut. I found that keeping the air conditioning on full blast helped lessen the smoke smell though you have to brave the chill. The only real positives I can mention are that the exterior of the hotel looks much nicer than the interior and there was a covered bench out back to escape the horrors of the room. Other than that, the photos online are misleading, and the overall condition of the rooms does not reflect the price being charged. Do not let the name fool you. The key cards for the room actually had the old hotel name on it which is a bottom of the bucket eccono lodge budget hotel. I would not recommend this hotel, as there are definitely better options available for the same or even lower cost.
