The space
This beautiful Bruny Island cottage is opposite the shores of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. Across the road you can literally dive into the water, fish or fetch fresh oysters! The small picture post card Rat Bay beach with its dinghies and nets is three minutes walk away while nearby can be found the white sands of Nebraska Beach and the Dennes Point village precinct, with its welcoming community centre café/bistro, jetty and boat ramp.
Elevated and set back from the road in a private location with delightful views through Casuarina (she-oak) trees to the water with the Snug Tier Mountains in the distance. Bright with lots of windows, wake to the first rays of sun and the sounds of the waves!
The kitchen has a separate dining area with glass sliders opening to an outside paved entertaining space landscaped with a stone wall. There is also a level and private backyard - note that this is not fully fenced.
Three bedrooms currently sleep six. The main bedroom has a comfortable King bed. The second bedroom has a Double and the third bedroom has two Singles. The bathroom includes a bath and there is the convenience of a separate internal laundry and toilet.
This surrounding location supports an impressive stand of magnificent ancient grass trees (Xanthorrhoea australis). In the forested areas close to the property stands of white gums provide habitat for rare 40-spotted pardalotes and an extraordinary abundance of other bird life from fairy wrens to rosellas to golden whistlers, shrike thrushes and honey eaters. Wedge-tail eagles and white-bellied sea eagles soar overhead, and wallabies, spotted quolls and echidnas are commonly seen.
Guest access
