Buck Barn - Mid Wales Getaway
Buck Barn Cabin is a charming and beautifully presented new addition to a well-loved collection of cabins nestled near the idyllic market town of Rhayader, right in the heart of rural Mid Wales. Designed to offer the perfect blend of comfort and countryside charm, it's a wonderful choice for a peaceful family escape or a romantic retreat for two.
Inside, the cabin comfortably sleeps up to six guests. There's a spacious king-size bedroom on the ground floor, a cosy mezzanine level with twin beds that children will love, and a double sofa bed available for extra guests at a small additional cost. The open-plan layout of the living, kitchen, and dining area has been cleverly designed to make the most of the space, so you can enjoy time together whether you're cooking, relaxing, or sharing a meal.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a favourite family dinner or a quiet supper for two. If you fancy a night off from cooking, you can bring back a takeaway from Rhayader and enjoy it at the dining table, or simply unwind on the plush sofa in front of the smart TV.
While the inside is cosy and inviting, it's the outdoor space that truly sets Buck Barn apart. Step outside to your private hot tub and soak in the warm, bubbling water as you gaze out over rolling green fields and the peaceful Welsh countryside. With outdoor dining furniture provided, you can eat alfresco, sip a drink as the sun goes down, or gather around your very own fire pit for toasted marshmallows and stories under the stars.
The location couldn't be better. Rhayader is just a short drive away and has everything you might need during your stay, including local shops, welcoming cafes, and traditional pubs serving food daily. A little further afield lies the breathtaking Elan Valley – 70 square miles of dams, reservoirs, and rugged landscapes, perfect for walking, exploring, and soaking up the natural beauty of Mid Wales.
To make your stay even more special, the site is also home to a small group of friendly alpacas. These gentle animals are a real delight for guests of all ages, adding a magical and memorable touch to your holiday.

We visited for a mini break in the first few days of 2026, looking for a peaceful location to consume the final cheese and port from Christmas and set up our intentions and plans for the year.
The lodge is beautifully set on the site, and feels very luxurious.
Underfloor heating and the hottub were invaluable as the snow arrived!
A lovely location to explore Elan Valley and the dams, and the recommendation of The Crown Inn was spot on for lunch.

Me and my partner loved staying here, the views were amazing especially waking up to dozens of sheep right outside our door. Buck Barn was well looked after and had everything we needed for our stay, the hot tub was incredible too, the only thing i could fault is that there were lots of flies around the area and a lot of them ended up in the cabin but if you keeps doors and windows closed it should be fine.

We had the best time at Buck Barn - the cabin itself was perfect and had everything you could want and need in a holiday rental. The extras were so well thought out and the kids had the best time roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. The location is stunning and everywhere nearby was very relaxed, even in summer holidays. We can’t wait to come back!

Guys u need to go and visit this place it's very nice and calm place if u dnt like noises thats the best place to go to plus very nice places around the area shops close by i enjoyed my time there will go there in future
