This property is easily the best we've stayed in. It was beautiful! It was very spacious, very well looked after, and modern. There is a spectacular view from the window, and we could relax on the large balcony with a beer after a day's sightseeing. Dodenau is a lovely village with 3 pubs/restaurants and a small supermarket within walking distance. Everyone was really friendly. The property has so much space! We all loved it!!!

Beautiful and spacious apartment which was very well equipped throughout. Beautiful panoramic views over the surrounding countryside from the living room balcony. Simply couldn't have asked for better!!

After having sped through Germany on a number of occasions on our way to Austria, this year we decided to take some time and look around. We initially chose this area due to its relatively easy drive to Rotterdam for our ferry and were a little apprehensive of our total lack of knowledge of the countryside. However we were hugely impressed by everything this apartment and the surrounding area has to offer. Firstly, the apartment can comfortably cater for 7 people, easily enough for our party of 5. It is very well furnished, with some lovely 'touches' to give a very welcoming feeling. It is comfortable and clean, with plenty of space for our 3 children. From the large bathroom to the well-appointed kitchen, there is nothing that you would want for at this apartment. Kathrin and her family have done a wonderful job. The view from the balcony over the river, fields and rolling wooded hills is fabulous, and a perfect place to wind down after a busy day exploring the area. And what an area it is!!.The village of Dodenau is rural and quiet, with a couple of bakeries, a few pubs/hotels, a small supermarket and a couple of other shops to serve the local needs. Battenberg is close for slightly more options, with Frankenberg and Marberg getting bigger still. All these places are worth a visit as the towns (or cities in Marberg's case) are simply stunning. I cannot overemphasise how breath taking these places are, and I would expect all the other towns in the region to be similar. On our drives to the Edersee, we passed through fantastic village after fantastic village. If your idea of a holiday is to immerse yourself in the local culture and way of life, this area is an absolute hidden gem. There is something for all those that would enjoy a holiday in rural Germany, if you just take the time to look around. A fantastic area and a fantastic village to base yourself. All this topped with the wonderful German hospitality. A great week, giving us all great memories. Danke.
