    The Monterey hotel was everything we could ask for in a budget friendly hotel. The location, amenities, and service were excellent. We will definitely be staying here the next time we are in Monterey. Highly recommend!

    Location near the waterfront was convenient. The older part of the hotel had very dirty stained hallway carpets and the room we originally booked was dismal. It had one window which opened on the wall of an adjacent building. No fridge, phone, microwave. Very small. We paid more and got a 'deluxe' queen in the new part of the building. It was also small, lacked a phone and USB ports, no plug for the tub, very weak shower stream, but had a small fridge and microwave. It was right on Calle Principal so it was very noisy early in the morning. Sounded like dumpsters being empties. The price was better than anything around it but still a significant cost. Staff were few but nice.
