Scansano Country House is an ancient charming stone house located in the heart of Maremma, the southern area of Tuscany, Italy. The villa is set on a gentle hill just a couple of kilometers from an enchanting village called Scansano, well known for its Morellino di Scansano, one of Toscana's most prestigious wines. The house's stunning view stretches from Capalbio to Monte Argentario and Orbetello Laguna. Inside, the traditional beamed ceilings and terracotta floors are highlighted by lovely paintings. A paved terrace with tables, chairs and comfortable loungers surrounds the house. The terrace is immersed in an amazing Mediterranean garden with a unique swimming pool. The property (27 acres) lies within a working farm estate producing first quality olive oil.
Ground floor:
Divided in 4 main spaces: dining room with a nice wooden table for 8/10 people, well equipped kitchen, livingroom with 2 sofas, a nice piano mezzacoda, a fireplace, toilet and a small room double sofa bed.
First floor:
1 double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a fireplace, 1 double bedroom, 1 double bedroom/triple bedroom (with an extra single bed), 1 bathroom, 1 sitting room/space.
Dependance:
1 double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom
Garden, terrace and pool:
A very large garden with terraced lawns at the heart of a huge olive trees property. Amply furnished stone terraces wrap around the main house. The private pool, 12 x 6m is set on a paved terrace, some 25 m from the main house and has an amazing view on the Monte Argentario and on a little strip of the Orbetello Laguna.
Assistance:
Assistance is provided locally by the property's caretaker.

POSITION
A peaceful setting located in the dreamy atmosphere of the Maremma hills. A handful of little charming towns dots the countryside, including Scansano, 6 km, Magliano, 15 km, Manciano 20 km, Capalbio, 27 km. The Tuscany riviera, including the Parco Naturale della Maremma, the Monte Argentario (40 km), Giglio and Giannutri Islands (1 hour by ferry boat from Porto Santo Stefano) is easily reachable. The nearest shops, post office, restaurants, bars, hospital are 6 km from the villa. If the quiet of the countryside and the marine breeze of the coast are not enough consider going on a relaxing day trip to the Saturnia termal baths (20 km) or if you prefer some physical activity go and explore the many trekking paths of the Monte Amiata (60 Km).
By airplane:
Florence, Pisa and Rome 2 hours.
By train:
Albinia train station is situated 25 km (30 minutes) from the villa.
Direct train connections to and from Rome, Pisa, Turin. By Car 100 km from Siena 160 km from Rome 170 km from Florence
Activities:
Tennis at Scansano. Several riding stables in the area. Thermal spa at Saturnia, 40 minutes. Beaches on the Monte Argentario peninsula or at Talamone both about 35 minutes. Trekking on Monte Amiata about 1 hour.

It’s the best of Toscana - a lovely property with spectacular views and loads of charm. Lots of interesting things to do within driving distance. The property manager Claudio was super helpful, responsive and great humoured and he keeps the gardens looking just beautiful - every leaf in place yet natural and robust - at least in May. (The only very small drawback of the place for us is that the kitchen crockery, pots and pans etc, are tired - if you are planning to be cooking dinners at the property. If you are, then likely you have the skills to improvise. To balance that off, the bed linens are primo - best we’ve ever had at a rental. ) We would absolutely come back to this property in a heart beat.

The house is located in a marvelous spot: the view and the surroundings are just amazing. The house has a lot of charme, the owner and the caretaker made us feel comfortable and welcome. We will definitely come back and we suggest to everybody a visit in southern Tuscany.

Our family of three stayed for a week here in early May, and we created some great memories here. Thank you Claudio, the caretaker, for helping make our experience a great one. The house was very clean and furnished with great taste in furniture and art. The grounds were impeccably maintained - it was a joy to walk around and appreciate the many flowers and trees on the property. The views are stunning and our favorite thing to do was to relax with wine and food outside while our daughter ran around on the grass. The pool was very clean and a refreshing way to end a day touring around the region. The house is close to many attractions in the area, like the various hill towns and the various spots along the coast. We particularly enjoyed Monte Argentario (thanks for the recommendation Claudio) and Capalbio. We cant wait to come back and bring more people to share the experience!
