The building was no where near abysmal as others have said. We enjoyed the elevator and it operated without a fault. The room itself would be worth it even if you hated the building and had to take the stairs. 10/10

This review is going to come with LOTS of caveats. Let me start by say that the space it self was gorgeous. A lot of other reviewers have said this and I will echo them: the building it is in is repulsive from the standpoint that it is old, run down, and smells terrible. You can however see underneath all that, the beauty of what the building would have looked like when it was new. the elevator. It's an old freight or service elevator. I used it probably 15-20 times during my stay and it worked flawlessly as long as you have both doors shut all the way. If you try to call it and it doesn't start running it is because it is stuck on another floor because someone did not shut both doors all the way. So...just shut them
I personally thought the elevator was cool from a history and architectural standpoint, but I understand that some people will find it terrifying, which brings me to...the stairs.
This room is on the 4th floor. The stairs start out pleasant enough, but get progressively longer and steeper each floor you go up. Like they are doable just fine, but with bags and other things they are a little bit of a challenge.
The room is beautiful and smelled great. It's a giant studio space with a gorgeous wood floor. It has huge windows that overlook the street and is right across from the Motor City casino, which is pretty at night. Kitchen is minimal but functional, bathroom wasn't terrible- the shower took a long time to warm up. Goodplace if you can overlook the cons

Great for me and my partner for a couple nights. Parking was right by the building so we didn’t have to worry about our car. Loved how open the space was.

Overall the actual loft is as described, and look just like the pictures. The location is prime, is close to a lot of the places i planned to visit. The building itself need a lot of updates(the elevator was down the whole stay) but it is an older building. For the most part we enjoyed out stay.
