About this castle / palace rental
An authentic medieval castle, fully renovated and nestled in the greenery of Tuscany, yet only about fifteen minutes from Florence South: this is Castello di Casalta. Situated in a unique location with spectacular views of the scenic surrounding hills, Castello di Casalta offers an unforgettable experience combining history, comfort, nature, and privacy.
The Space:
Castello di Casalta provides the unique and thrilling opportunity to stay in a medieval castle, complete with crenellated walls and a watchtower, without sacrificing the comforts and services of a high-class stay. Located in the province of Florence, the castle was originally built in the 1300s as an outpost for the Florentine banking family, the de' Pazzi, known for their failed conspiracy against the Medici. Today, it is a charming 500-square-meter luxury residence, surrounded by the quintessential landscapes of the Tuscan countryside, characterized by rolling hills covered with vineyards and olive groves.
Upon entering the property, you'll feel as though you've stepped into a dream world. The castle is centered around the main watchtower, which includes a large furnished 60-square-meter terrace with breathtaking views, an imperial suite, and another bedroom with a private bathroom. Flanking the central tower are two independent units, each with two spacious and quiet bedrooms. The first unit also features a fireplace, a large library, an additional sofa bed, and a magnificent veranda enclosed by glass windows overlooking the garden. All bedrooms have private bathrooms, and each independent unit is equipped with a fully equipped kitchen. This setup allows for the rental of either the entire property or, during the winter season, one of the three independent units; each unit has its own entrance, ensuring privacy at all times.
In summer, the ancient alberese stone walls naturally keep the environment cool. Large windows ensure the space is always bright and allow guests to enjoy views of the garden and surrounding hills from every corner of the house.
Outside, the garden features oaks and other centuries-old trees, perfect for wonderful and relaxing nature walks. The pool with a wooden solarium, open from May 1st to October 30th, is also surrounded by greenery. The garden also offers charming secluded spots with tables and chairs for evening aperitifs or romantic outdoor dinners.

You can park your car directly in front of the gate; you can also drive onto the carriage road just to drop off luggage in front of the main entrance.
Your own car is necessary to reach the property, as it is located in the open countryside, not connected by public transport, and to move freely in the area.

The property had beautiful views. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and well appointed. We did not use the common areas very much because it was very hot during our stay. The pool was clean and refreshing and the host recommendations for restaurants in the area were excellent. The access road to the property was challenging Especially if you had a low car a Jeep or 4 Wheel Dr. type vehicle is probably best we all enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed this quirky (lots of steps) but delightful rental. All the bedrooms with ensuite baths ensured privacy for everyone. The small kitchen was very well outfitted and we enjoyed cooking dinners there with wonderful indoor and outdoor eating options. The pool was refreshing with lovely views. The managers were attentive to our every need and very friendly and accessible. I would definitely come again!
