American/English family of 4 staying for 2 nights in early April. Large, divided property off a main road into Bowness. Free parking and surrounded by greenery and farm fields. Wanted a quick stop off in The Lake District between cross country university visits and this was a good stop in general. Good location for a daytime road trip around, got in a couple of the suggested hikes. Some lovely cottage quirks and a spacious feel but only 2 bedroom, which is disappointing. It's got some great features, including the luxurious looking bathtubs but too short a stay to indulge, however, we came especially for the private hot tub and it didn't disappoint! Holds easily 6 and possibly a couple more. HOT (surprisingly some of them are kept below full temperature but this one is amazing). Loved it and made our time at the cottage memorable. Hot and wonderful shower,extremely comfortable beds. Good information from the hosts. LOVED the special treats, including a bottle of Prosecco, biscuits and some yummy jam pots!
Sadly a few negatives. It's a large and old property so a lot to maintain. It's showing some wear, especially in the kitchen. Old house so not efficient windows. Some didn't close well. The house is sectioned off into 3 homes and only separated by a very thin wooden door in the guest room bathroom and the living room and master bedroom. At breakfast my 14 year old informed me that she heard the neighbors (literally a thin door beside her) 'getting freaky' or let's just say having 'full' relations in the 2nd half of the divided bathroom, right beside her at 10pm. She said it was loud. Let's just say it was a negative for us and just a bit shocking/embarrassing/amusing for her lol. Not how you want your (maybe)younger kids to discover the birds and the bees :-) Just know if you can hear them, then they can hear you.
Having said all of that, it's a wonderful property and we enjoyed our stay - thank you.

This is a beautiful period property that has been renovated to a very high standard. The bathrooms were really lovely and the atmosphere of the entire place is relaxing and comfortable. Lovely log fire.

The house was beautiful, the facilities were excellent. The bedrooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated. Excellent location. Fantatsic for families and for couples.
Location of the TV outside - couldnt see it due to being inline of the sun.

Lovely property. Beautifully done out. Big comfy bed in main bedroom and lovely bath and shower. Was nice to have a welcome pack on arrival with some treats and to have tea and coffee provided. Enjoyed using the hot tub and having a real fire.
