Fantastisch oud paleis , nog volledig ingericht met antieke meubelen. Wij sliepen in een gigantische kamer met hemelbed, super romantisch. Overdag gewandeld op het landgoed en bij het zwembad gezeten, heerlijk rustig en schoon.

L’accueil chaleureux des propriétaires des lieux, le calme, la qualité de la literie, la propreté, le petit déjeuner copieux et raffiné. Le château et ses intérieurs, magnifiques escaliers. Pour nous, tout était parfait, vaste parc pour se promener et profiter du cadre verdoyant.

Wow, the chateau is grand in the extreme but feels like home, (albeit a rather large one). It has scale and opulence in spades. Maelle gave us a cheery welcome and was helpful and kind throughout. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with well appointed bathrooms. The pool and surrounding landscape were a delight. The luxury was quite a departure from the two weeks we had just spent hiking in the Swiss alps.
Whilst we didn't starve, France shuts up shop on Mondays and Tuesdays, (the days we stayed) and it was quite tedious foraging for dinner. I had contacted the chateau in advance for recommendations which I was given but was not told they would be closed. And I mean, EVERYWHERE was closed. I was also told the chateau did not offer food on site but could offer plates and an oven which we used on the first night. After a fruitless search on the second evening, we discovered other guests were having charcuterie supplied by the chateau (no food on site???) and managed to get in on that. It would have been more relaxing to be have been offered that at the beginning and saved the hours spent looking for somewhere open. For the cost of the rooms, especially if you are staying more than one night, obvious access to a kitchen to at least make tea would be appreciated. Breakfast is fine, served in a beautiful room but is largely sweet stuff and not going to put hairs on your chest! The main focus at the chateau is understandably weddings. The B&B feels like an after thought and it shouldn't be for 870 euros.
