Villa Tortorelli

Loved this place overall, nothing to complain about.

The only thing was lack of communication when we arrived. I notified the Villa that we would be late arriving, but the airline lost our bags so we had to fill in forms at the airport making us even later. When we eventually arrived at the villa, there was no communication as to how to get into the property. We message the villa for code to get into building but the reply was automated. There was no reply for an hour or so ,we wandered around for about an hour and being two females we were starting to get very worried. We were so relieved when we got to our room at 1.30am.

A beautiful building with friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Breakfast options catered to sweet tooth - could have had more savoury options. The villa had lovely pools, although some of the American guests were not very friendly (some rude) and asked to take food off or your breakfast plate to put onto theirs - bizarre! First time encountered that before. But the villa was a sanctuary of peace away from the graffiti, crime, run down, smelly, disgusting streets of Florence. The luggage facility was much appreciated. The shower and bathroom was beautiful and so was the bedroom

It was a lovely villa but it was like prison. Codes, locks everywhere. Walls covered in rules, you aren’t allowed to do this, or that, or fined here. You were afraid to relax in the place as it was like being locked up. That disappointed us. There were contradictory rules of how to use the pool or when you were allowed to - also confusing. There was no one to greet us when arriving and a long list of confusing instructions on whatsapp and in the room which messed up our plans for the next day. They offer no in person service or speaking or communication which we found very hard. It was all online, computer automated, generic and very remote lacking human touch. But then that sums up Florence, having travelled most of Italy, would never go back to Florence, it is like New York, the last place you want to holiday!

Great location, quick walk in to the centre of Florence. Our deluxe suite was a perfect size and very clean. The staff were exceptional, so friendly and attentive. We will definitely stay here again.
