Experience a unique getaway to Sea Ranch at Footloose, a spacious, two-story, dog-friendly retreat that will please every single guest no matter what! This home away from home’s main living area has an open floor plan that seamlessly and effortlessly combines the kitchen, dining area, living room, and two decks into a wonderfully large, usable space. The kitchen is a cook's delight with well-lit countertops, all the cooking essentials and appliances to whip up mouth-watering meals, including a dishwasher to help with the cleanup. Fire up the gas grill when you want to enjoy cooking on one of the sunny decks. This deck also features the ultimate amenity when it comes to relaxation: your very own hot tub, the ideal place to gaze at the Milky Way at night while sharing a special moment with your friends or family. Settle in to enjoy the entertainment center with a selection of board games and puzzles, or use the high-definition TV with surround sound – live programming, HBO Max and other on-demand content, DVD/Blu-ray discs w/ the Blu-ray player, or even media from your phone or laptop cast to the TV via Chromecast. There’s even a Nintendo with 30 classic games! The work-from-home experience is a joy with fast fiber-optic internet, reachable from every corner of the house through mesh WiFi, and enhanced with Nest.
Footloose is on a sunny, quiet cul-de-sac, offering guests privacy and seclusion. Guests have access to over 50 miles of private hiking trails. The home is located only a five-minute walk to the nearest trailheads, a 15-minute walk to the ocean bluff trail, one mile to the sandy Shell Beach, a 10-minute walk to the nearest redwoods hiking trail, and a 0.7-mile walk to the historic Sea Ranch Chapel. Guests will also have access to three recreational centers with pools, tennis courts, basketball; the nearest rec center is only a five-minute drive. The 18-hole Sea Ranch Golf Link Scottish-style course is three and a half miles away offering unique views of the Pacific Ocean seascape. Gualala is only five miles north where you’ll find easy dining options and shopping for groceries or gifts.
Things to know:
High-speed fiber-optic internet and WiFi available. It's perfect for streaming entertainment, working, and Zoom meetings, however, please note that it can occasionally be spotty in bad weather, but generally very reliable.
Verizon service is the best cell service, other services are spotty and unreliable.
Please note this home is on the East side of Highway One above the road. There may be occasional traffic noise.
An outdoor nook is available to hose-off anything that needs to be hosed: freshly caught fish, ocean-drenched/sandy doggies, beach toys, etc.
If you drive a compact car, you are welcome to park in the garage; the clearance is too tight for standard cars, SUVs, and trucks.
Please note that all Sea Ranch recreation centers are closed until further notice.
If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. No more dogs are allowed.
Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.
Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). We enjoyed our stay at this home - it was cozy, easy to find, and comfy for us and the dog. There were two small enclosed spots outside which was helpful for the dog, and the beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The kids and adults alike LOVED the retro Nintendo game console and we had a blast playing Technobowl, Kirby, Bubble Bobble together.
A few small things to keep in mind: because of its proximity to Highway 1, there was some traffic noise in the mornings. The bottom floor was all concrete, which made sense to accommodate dogs, but bring slippers! It would have been nice to have a few more pantry items also (e.g. plastic wrap or aluminum foil, some tupperware). And finally, a coffee table would have been nice to play games, although again, for the sake of the dogs, it's understandable that the living room space was left quite open.
All and all, it was an accommodating, dog-friendly home!

This is a roomy home with a well stocked kitchen. Lots of room to hang out and enjoy the outdoors with access to hiking and ocean views.

The smoke detector went off two of the mornings of our stay. When we notified the Vacasa office in Gualala we were told no one was on duty to replace the batteries, no maintenance person available. I pity the group that came in after us as the alarm was sure to go off at 3 am each morning of their stay. If Vacasa is in the business of renting houses then someone must be on duty 24/7 for all issues that occur. I will think twice before renting from Vacasa again.
