About this house rental
Mosquito Ridge Retreat is a gorgeous privately owned modern mountain getaway. Indulge yourself in a luxury stay at this brand-new, custom 3BR/2BA home, while enjoying unobstructed views of the canyon, Sierra snow caps and Tahoe National Forest from the wraparound deck.
Locally crafted furnishings provide distinct mountain comfort and impeccable attention to detail. The Great Room maximizes the canyon views with 20- ft. floor-to-ceiling doors/windows and a contemporary Astria gas fireplace. The kitchen is a culinary heaven with restaurant-quality finishes and high-end appliances. Highlights include a six-burner range, a GE Cafe French door refrigerator with filtered hot water right from the door and granite countertops, including a huge island with barstool seating.
The three bedrooms include a decadent master suite with queen bed and en-suite bathroom which make up the entire second level, and downstairs bedrooms with a queen bed and queen convertible sofa bed and a shared bathroom. Each bedroom has a view of the canyon.
Outdoor features include hot tub, a hanging porch swing and on-site access to the adjacent Western States Trail.
Because of the unique design of the property it is not mobility friendly and not suitable for children. No pets and no smoking. For security purposes there are perimeter cameras monitoring the exterior of the property. All cameras are turned off during guest's stay.

Book with confidence that this property is worth every penny and better than the amazing photos convey!! The views are indescribably good! It feels both modern and warm at the same time! When you drive up, you still won't be able to anticipate just how great it is setup and decorated! Views are east facing, so you get a lot of morning sun and there aren't blinds, but there also aren't any neighbors within eyesight (beyond distant 1/4 mile or more and not at eye level) and you're on vacation, so enjoy a cold morning with the sun and a coffee! This property is also incredibly well equipped and has great appliances, finishes, and the decor feels so personal, but also curated/fun! If there was a score/rank just for the lighting and lamps available to create an ambiance, it would break the scale! The owner/designer probably works in set/stage lighting or something...it's that good! We stayed here while attending a wedding at the venue (Mountain Shadows) two houses over in Nov 2025, and everyone that saw our place asked for the info to book it for their own future stay...it's that good!

We loved the fireplace and hot tub on our cold rainy nights! Absolutely beautiful house. The proximity to the Western States trail was ideal for us. The only thing that would have been nice were blinds or curtains in the bedroom for the feeling of privacy at night and managing the light in the morning.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Modern Mountain Getaway! The views are absolutely stunning and I could have just stayed at the house the whole time. The house is gorgeous, the beds were super comfortable and it was pristinely clean. The house is located less than a mile from a market and town so location is great if you need anything. Host was very responsive!

This is a spectacular property! The view would sell it if it was a shack, but the entire house was amazing and the kitchen appliances were high end - feels like you're staying in a home and not a rental. Check in and communication were easy breezy. Thank you so much for this offering - we will definitely return.
