Just 10 minutes away from the beautiful beaches of the renowned Argentario coast, 50sqm apartment (for 4 persons max.) in a typical Tuscan house standing in an elevated position in the medieval centre of Montiano, a peaceful, picturesque hilltop village surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, fields and woods. It is the perfect retreat for Tuscany lovers, ideal home base to enjoy both the beauty of nature and fascinating day trips to Siena, Pisa, Florence and all the other wonderful sites of Tuscany (see suggestions below). All the charm of Tuscany in one place: beaches, countryside, towns of art and a superb landscape.
THE APARTMENT: Surrounded by nature but with all the advantages of a village, the apartment is totally immersed in the old Tuscany atmosphere and traditions. It is a charming, typically Tuscan 50 sqm. apartment with thick stone walls, vaulted and stone ceilings, terracotta floors and a sunny terrace full of flowers with table and chairs for sun bathing, relaxing and "al fresco" dining . It is located on the mezzanine floor of an ancient 'palazzo' and it is quiet and bright. It has a living room with double sofa bed, dining corner and TV set facing a quiet and picturesque medieval cobbled lane, a cozy double bedroom with view over the terrace full of flowers, a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom with shower and washing machine. Internet WI-FI and linens included. Fans or heating according to the season.
THE HILLTOP VILLAGE is located in the world-famous area called Maremma which extends along the southern coast of Tuscany. Being on the first hill facing the sea it offers a fantastic view of the coast, the islands and the countryside. In Montiano you will find every comfort: 2 excellent restaurants, coffee shop, wine tasting, 2 little supermarkets, pharmacy, bank, soccer field, horse riding, 2 play grounds for children and, in a 20 minute drive, 3 of the best golf courses in Italy open all year. Next towns (Grosseto and Orbetello) are approx.15 minutes drive away.
THE AREA: The nearest beaches are just 12km. away, reachable in a comfortable 10 minutes traffic free drive through rural scenery. It's the renowned Argentario Coast of Maremma, the southern area of Tuscany, with its fine sand beaches and rocky bays, its fortressed village ports (Talamone, Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole) where you can rent a boat, do your shopping in high class boutiques, taste the local products in 'trattorias' and wine bars, enjoy the Italian style. The fabulous Natural Park of Maremma with its long white sand beaches, cliffs and wildlife is just 14 km. away and nearby are also the Natural Park of Feniglia and the Orbetello Lagoon. From Talamone (15km. from our house) you can also go by ferry to the islands Elba, Giglio, Giannutri, Montecristo. In less than 30 mins you can reach the world-famous Saturnia hot thermal waterfalls and Spa open year long. In the vicinity of Montiano there are important archeological sites to discover (Roselle, Vetulonia, Tarquinia, etc.), enchanting historic centres to visit (Montalcino, Massa Marittima, Sovana, Capalbio, Pitigliano, Orvieto, etc.) and, of course, Wine Trails to taste the excellent wines of the area.
DAY TRIPS: It is the ideal strategic home base for fascinating day trips: half way between Rome (South) and Florence (North), both reachable in 2 hour drive or by train (the station is just 15km. away) it is close to Siena, Pisa, and all the other enchanting sites of Tuscany. The closeness to the sea has made Montiano particularly attractive from spring to autumn while in late autumn and winter it remains a wonderful place for combining cultural experiences with the charm of the Tuscan countryside.

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo appartamento l'ultima settimana di luglio. Tutto conforme alle descrizioni, nessuna sorpresa negativa. Unico appunto: è necessario dotare la proprietà di aria condizionata o almeno di ventilatori. La notte era veramente difficile riposare adeguatamentw

Vorsicht "Küche" und "Terassenzugang"
Wir haben schon mehrfach über Fewo-direkt gebucht und sind immer gut damit gefahren. Leider war unser Urlaub in der Toscana in diesem Feriendomizil im Erdgeschoss ein Flop. Wir brachen unseren Urlaub bereits nach einer Woche ab. Der Zugang zur der sogenannte Küche ist einen Meter breit und maximal 1m80 hoch. Ferner hat sie eine Schräge, verursacht durch die Treppe, die in den 1. Stock führt. Mein Mann - 1m80 groß - musste sich, wenn er kochen wollte, über den Herd bücken. Die frei Fläche der Küche ist maximal 2 qm groß!!! Der Zugang zur Terrasse erfolgt über das Schlafzimmerfenster mit einer Trittleiter. Sie – die Terrasse - wurde von uns nicht genutzt, da es uns zu blöd war mit allem über eine Trittleiter auf die Terrasse zu gelangen. Sonneneinstrahlung dort nur sehr gering, da hohe Bauten ringsum. Müll jeglicher Art musste von uns in öffentlichen Containern der Nachbargemeinden entsorgt werden, da es keine Mülltonne im Haus gab. Wohn- und Schlafzimmer waren sehr gut ausgestattet und in Ordnung. Die Vermieterin, Frau C., war nett und höflich und hat uns ohne Diskussion die Kosten für die restlichen Tage erlassen.
