Breakfast is made to order and everything is home made and delicious. The room was huge with a very comfortable big bed. Staff is very friendly. The grounds are lovely and the views magnificent. Driving through the lowlands in northern italy i pretty boring but when you turn off into the hills south the landscape suddenly is breathtaking.
Dinner; the pasta was superb, but the main course lacked sides.

The views were superb- even in the rain and mist the property looked breathtaking. We dealt with Erica and she made sure we were comfortable; she gave us a tour of the grounds, got us extra pillows, and recommended an exceptional nearby restaurant as well as a local artisanal balsamic producer where we had a private tour and tasting.
The privilege of staying in a castle built in 1100 means that you also deal with a few things you wouldn’t find in other modern hotels- the common areas were a little bit drafty and the property is not accessible for those with mobility issues. These trade-offs were absolutely worth it for us!

Beautiful location, beautiful building, kind staff.
No air conditioning was a surprise for such an expensive accommodation, and more surprising was that they did not have a good fan. It was very hot.
Also dinner was good (and the view is amazing), but expensive. We’d had many meals in Italy at this point, and many were better for half the cost.
