About this villa rental
This spacious and airy property has been renovated with a great deal of care, and boasts original chestnut beams, hand made chestnut windows (some of which are traditional tuscan style arched windows) and exposed stonework.
Modern comforts have not been forgotten and there are 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms (two of which are en-suite), large kitchen a living/dining area, and a 'quiet room' leading from the dining room.... Each room has a wonderful view, and one can even bathe in the bathroom with a stunning view of the famous Uomo Morto, part of the Apuane mountain range!
The design of the villa makes it ideal for large groups, each requiring some privacy from the other, in terms of bedroom, living and kitchen space, but still wishing to spend time together. It is possible for all to dine together both inside and out.
Outside, there is the beautiful private pool (6M x 12M with internal steps) and the very spacious sunbathing terrace on one side, and grassed area surrounding the rest.
The gardens have a feeling of maturity, with many mature trees, shrubs, flowers and even rockery areas, designed in such a manner so as not to detract from the amazing views of the mountains (including the famous Uomo Morto) beyond.
A peaceful retreat, yet less than 5 minutes into town by car.

4 large bedrooms, three of which are double rooms, and one of which can be double or twin.
Two of the double rooms have their own en-suite shower rooms, and one is especially romantic, with double doors leading to small balcony, and own original feature fireplace.
There is also a family bathroom, with bathtub on this floor (relax with a glass of wine admiring the mountains!).
Lower ground floor -
On the lower ground floor there is further good quality living accommodation (with independent entrance) comprising 2 bedrooms (one double and one twin) and one shower room. One of the bedrooms has double doors leading out to patio area
This floor is where the second kitchen/living/diner is situated which has double doors leading outside, and dining table, sofa, as well as fully equipped kitchen. (oven, hob, fridge/freezer)
Wood burning stove.
The washing machine is situated in the utility room accessed externally.
Outside
There are extensive mature gardens, and a pool (6M x 12M, with internal steps), spacious sunbathing area, BBQ, Table Tennis, eating terrace and breathtaking views.
Pool towels can be provided on request.

A little about location:
The farmhouse is situated in the heart of the Garfagnana, with stunning 360 views of the Appenines, Apuane Alps and the famous Uomo Mort. Whilst ideal for a peaceful, rural away from it all holiday, this property offers the convenience of town too, with the famous market town of Castelnuovo less than a 5 minute drive away.
Indeed the beautiful fortress, with commanding views over the valley and the mountains beyond, and noted for its classical music events, is 10 minutes on foot. The town itself has a famous weekly market, bars, restaurants, shops, and train station for easy exploring. Drive times are: Castelnuovo 3 mins or so Mediaeval town of Barga - 15 minutes Lucca - 45 minutes Pisa - 1 hour 15 minutes Florence - 90 minutes National Park of Orrechiella - 30 mins Walking, horseriding, and picnic opportunities straight from the door!

The house is beautifully restored, very well equipped, tastefully, yet practically furnished and the pool is clean and very enjoyable. We had a great week here for a get-together with the American branch of the family and were made feel welcome from the get-go. The owners, Alan and Mel are extremely helpful and kind and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the house and the grounds. The kids spent a lot of time in the pool or playing table tennis and we did a few choice trips to nearby towns and sights. But mostly we just spent time together and enjoyed the fantastic views of the mountains and the peace and quiet of the countryside with a glass of wine on the terrace. Perfect vacation!

My family and I (7 adults and an Infant) have just returned from a 1 week holiday in Orbaci in what I can only describe as a wonderful Italian villa situated a short distance from the small town of Castelnuova. The large spacious four bedroom three story villa had everything you could possibly need including large and small dining areas, spacious pool, table tennis, and a small "library". Underneath the main house was a separate self-contained two bedroomed apartment area which was ideal for my wife and me. The pool was spotless and maintained to a very high standard. Alan and Mel were wonderful and provided a beautiful meal for our group. Too top it all they baked the most wonderful lemon drizzle cake as a birthday gift to one of our group. I could not recommend this property highly enough as a place to relax and explore beautiful Tuscany.

The location was great amidst the mountains with the best views and night skies (I have seen more stars in one night than in 25 years in The Netherlands) and even a group of passing deer one fine morning. Alan and Mel were great hosts who take loving care of their property and their guests. We felt welcome. Our group consisted of 9 people, ages 16-79, and we were quite comfortable. The pool was excellent, the pool area providing some pleasantly shaded areas. Our stay could not have been better. Highly recommended.

As a family of 30-70 year olds we had a brilliant time!
The view & outside space was amazing! The villa was in a lovely, traditional style & provided all that we needed.
The owners were really friendly & helpful, including staying with us to sort out our broken down, hired vehicle on our arrival ,to Castelnuovo.!
The swimming pool area was delightful & very relaxing with a great size pool.
The town, in walking distance, was really nice & we had a great time at the their festival on our last evening.
Thank you very much for our amazing, celebratory meal whilst with you!
Would definitely stay again!
