This is a truly special villa in Oia. Its location offers the perfect view of the sunset from your own private roof deck. I’ve stayed in many places around the world and I can honestly say that this villa is one of the best. Not for the amenities; it’s only a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa with a small kitchen and living room; but for the amazing experience of viewing the village of Oia each day and night. Furthermore, the host is extremely helpful and available. I contacted him several times and he responded within minutes. He genuinely wants to make your stay the best it can be. It’s important to know that this villa requires a little effort to get to. You’ll be dropped off at the Oia post office and need to walk thru the village and down 100 steps. However, the host provides a porter to assist with your luggage to make things easier.

Santorini may be beautiful, but beauty doesn’t cushion a fall—or bad hospitality. Our arrival at the hotel was more obstacle course than welcome. The stairs leading down were steep, slick, and downright dangerous. I slipped, crashed onto my back, and lay there stunned with my luggage sprawled around me. The manager, who was ahead of us, turned to glance at the scene… then kept walking. No “Are you okay?” No offer of help. Just cold indifference. That was my first clue: we’d booked the wrong place. Later, when I asked for an Italian restaurant recommendation, he claimed there were none nearby. That would’ve been believable—if we hadn’t passed several on foot. Either he didn’t know his own neighborhood, or he couldn’t be bothered. Neither option inspires confidence. The view? Yes, it’s the one redeeming feature. But even that comes with a catch: every morning, tourists wander onto the property to snap their photos, turning our supposed retreat into a public lookout. And then there’s the donkey stench. The path outside is a parade of poop and pungency. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it adds to the overall sense that this place is more hassle than haven . If you’re looking for a stay that matches the postcard fantasy, keep looking. This one’s all downhill—literally and figuratively
