The property is located in a little hillside village about ten minutes drive (on steep and twisting roads) from the nearest shops etc. It is a very quiet and pretty location with great views across the valley to the hills beyond. It is in a great location for a range of activities on holiday. Going downhill and south, Florence is about an hour away by car and Pisa / Siena / San Marino about two hours. Going uphill and north, there are vast forests with lakes and great walking and cycling routes.
The property has secure offsite parking with an outside dining area (with BBQ) and a good sized and sunny pool area. We were there too early in the year to use the pool but the area has a separate shower and toilet. There are plenty of good quality outside chairs provided for sitting and admiring the view.
There are two very well equipped and spacious holiday units arranged as self contained ground floor and first floor apartments. We rented both units as a family and so had no problems with privacy on the site - however, it would be different if the two apartments were hired separately. Each apartment is typically rural Italian in style with good quality furniture. As a family, we enjoy cooking and eating together and each apartment had large enough kitchen and seating areas for us all to get together comfortably in just one apartment. The kitchens were well equipped and we could cook what we wanted without difficulty. The three bedrooms and two bathrooms in each unit are equally spacious and comfortable. Everything was beautifully clean.
The host was very friendly and helpful, and communication was very easy.
A minor point: The property is designed to be cool in the heat of summer and so is cold when the weather is cool. The heating is charged separately and off by default. This is not a problem in principle as the renter can choose to turn it on and control it as they wish, and the heating is very effective.
However, it takes a little while to warm up as we found out when we arrived cold after a long day of travelling. This spoilt our first impression of the property a little. It would be nice if the host gave the renter the option to have the heating turned on in advance when arriving during cold weather.
