Sidemen is what we all wish Ubud still was: tranquil, peaceful, not many tourists. Abian Ayu is in a stunning location with lush, green rice terraces. The staff were lovely - especially Sinta and Piani - who were so attentive to any of our requests. Being able to WhatsApp them with any request was super convenient. We rented a scooter through the hotel, and it was easy to ride around the area, especially to visit the rice terraces. We were in the pool villa, which was spacious, clean, and comfortable to come back to. There are several cafes and restaurants that are walkable from the hotel. Tea time was great - they bring tea and snacks to your villa between 2-4.
It's a very small thing, but the villa could use some hooks to hang towels, etc. You can't see the volcano from the villa, but you can from the common pool. That being said, the views are still stunning.

The facilities and the pool were really clean and the staff was very nice and kind. The breakfast offered indonesian and western options which they were both delicious.
We had a massage of the first day and was very good. We also had the cooking class with Piani which was amazing. The food was pleanty and they offered us to take the leftover away and have it the day after at the restaurant.
We also rented the scooter from the hotel and utilise the laundry service; both were really efficient and cheap.
The bed and the pillows were not comfortable. The pillows were too high and there was no option to have a lower one, except the decorative cushions. The mattress was bouncy and it could be annoying when the person next to you is turning side.
The shower near the toilet is not great, because the water goes everywhere in the bathroom. The good thing is that there is a small shower over the bath tub that can be used instead.

- The perfect location to see Mt. Agung in early morning from the balcony.
- The breakfast choices, all were delicious.
- Included afternoon tea of Balinese snacks, which was really thoughtful.
- All staff were nice. Dea (the front office staff) was really helpful when we had issue the bathroom. She also gave suggestion of restaurants nearby to eat.
The access was a bit hard for older people with limited mobility, as they have lots of stairs.
