Villa Di Tissano

If you want the typical tuscan experience without the Cortona tour buses and the horrible American modernisation of classic buildings, come here. The host is an amazing man who cooked for us every night... we sat outside overlooking the valley next to the sun-warmed 500 year old walls. It really could not have been better.

It's an old villa with lot of history and beautiful big garden with ponds, fountains and old sculptures. Rooms are basic but clean. Breakfast served under pergola in the garden was very nice. Unfortunately we didn't have a chance to try their restaurant, but judging from the photos it appears good. The vill is located in the center of a small village of Tissano, with very little traffic. It was very quiet night with lot of frog sounds, ton of fireflies and in the morning we woke up with the sound of roosters and doves.

This vill is not for everybody. The photos appears as if the villa is in good condition, which is not. Lot of beautiful historical public rooms are in disrepair or serve as a storage. Whoever manages the villa is doing a poor job, because just some cleaning and organising would improve the look.There is so much unused potential. Maybe they are understaffed. Staff was hit and miss. Majority of people were indifferent and we could only have a minimal and fairly cold interactions with they, and few were quite the opposite.
