This is an excellent old fashioned hotel in the perfect location for a traveler. Chaumont is a pretty little town and worth visiting if you want authentic and almost no tourists. There are interesting historical places to visit and the centre ville is only steps away. It is quiet. There’s a very nice restaurant in the hotel. I was there on a Thursday and almost no one was there, but to be fair, it seemed like one of the nicest restaurants in the town…a date night place. There are many other restaurant choices, too. The staff even let my friend leave her luggage in the lobby for 4 hours, altho she wasn’t staying there. They let me check in before noon. You can get room service from the kitchen, too.

The patron was a sweet lady who could not do enough and personally waited on us at breakfast. Room was clean and the dinner was superb, even though we were the only guests dining.

We found our shower colder than is ideal. The heating in the bedroom was inadequate for the very cold subzero weather. We found ourselves locked out of the main reception, dining area of the hotel when going for Breakfast and could not exit from the fire escape door either as it was locked which is a bit alarming if there had been a fire in the night…..the only way we got out was by phoning reception. We had to guess the number and got it at the third attempt, there was no directory of numbers to dial by the phone.
