About this house rental
Come and experience our relaxing farm on the sunny island of Crete. An escape for all seasons! This is an affordable and pleasant accommodation. It's not a hotel or even a traditional B & B. It's our own holiday cottage!
The farm is located in the picturesque village of Meleses, located in the middle of Crete, in the prefecture of Heraklion. The charm and tranquility of the village is in sharp contrast to the hustle and bustle of other seaside resorts. For those who love the sea there are excellent beaches half an hour away from home.
Melesses is an agricultural community surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. We are located in the heart of the Peza wine country. You can taste the wine and rake from the small vineyard you find in the farmhouse or just drive away. For food lovers, restaurants with local food and gourmet restaurants are nearby. The area offers the famous Cretan cuisine with its essentials: extra virgin olive oil and wine. Nikos Kazantzakis, some churches - dating from the Byzantine era. There are many attractions around Melesses, which can be seen on the farm. Minoan Palace of Knossos is 15 km away. The city of Heraklion is 20 km away, and the famous resorts of Hersonissos and Malia 40 km away. The Christian Orthodox Monastery of Agarathos built in the 15th century is 7 km away, and the village of Thrapsano with ceramics. Car rental is highly recommended. The car park is personal and free, There is a central entrance to electric door and remote control.
The 3180 sq. m. is ideal for large families or groups of friends and offers a high degree of privacy. It can accommodate up to 7 people. Babies and children are welcome. There are two bedrooms. The main bedroom includes a wardrobe, a double bed. The second bedroom includes a double bed, two single beds and a child. There is a toilet, sink and shower. Bed linen and towels are provided.
The living room is in a room with the kitchen and includes a fireplace and a wood-fired oven. No food service or commercial service is provided.
Our TV is Smart LED HD, but there is also a satellite dish. If you still need to stay connected, there is free wi-fi. Direct access to the outdoor dining area gives you a relaxed sense of space because the house is made of olive trees.
Other home amenities include hair dryer, washing machine, iron, bluetooth speaker with karaoke, hot water.
The landscape with endless mountain peaks is ideal if photography, painting or writing is your hobby. You can enjoy the sunshine, the bright blue sky, the crunching of the crickets in the garden and the endless view of the olive groves, the vineyards, the hills, the nearby villages and the churches. There is a beautiful view of the village and the ridge from the Lasithi Mountains to the pool. Enjoy the outdoors, in the cool plinth, under the olive trees on the hammocks or on the lawn, or in the pool, for sunbathing. If you practice yoga, bring your mats. It is great to practice in the morning / evening. The private pool is ideal for relaxing and water games. A shower next to the pool makes your life easier. In the air, you can watch your swings in the pool.

A real gem! Tucked away with total privacy. The house is fully equipped with all mod cons and the garden and pool were delightful. Our host was so accommodating and helpful. The dog, goats,kittens and chickens all added to our experience.

These trips are often about managing expectations and the property is very much as advertised. You need to like animals, as dogs, cats and chickens (the latter a useful source of fresh eggs!) live on the property, but all are friendly!
The village is less than half an hour from Heraklion airport, but a world away in terms of peace and nature and there are several good walks within 30-45 minutes drive. The swimming pool is a little cooler in October, but very refreshing. There are great views from the garden and all the previous reviews are accurate, although with the recent earthquake, there are several local road diversions and you soon get used to the tremors!
Maria's husband Vangelis is on hand for as little or as much help as required. If your looking for a mix of fresh air and relaxation, this is an ideal place.

Wir sind immer auf der Suche nach einem abgelegenem Häuschen mit privatem Pool und schöner Umgebung. Das haben wir hier alles genau gefunden! Das Haus hat alles was man benötigt, der Garten ist traumhaft schön und das Örtchen Melesses niedlich und verschlafen. Ein Auto ist unbedingt notwendig und wenn man die Wahl hat, dann sollte man nicht unbedingt einen Kleinwagen mit wenig PS nehmen. Das Gelände ist sehr uneben und mit unserem VW up hatten wir ein paar kleine Problemchen aber alles halb so wild :) Vagelis hat uns herzlich empfangen und jeden Tag mit frischen Eiern, Obst aus dem Garten und guter Laune versorgt. Die beiden Hunde Vito und Chiara sind zwei Herzstücke und leben auch die ganze Zeit mit auf dem Anwesen. Der Charme ist doch eher Ländlich und erinnert an einem Bauernhof, das muss einem bewusst sein aber es war wirklich traumhaft schön! Wir kommen wieder!!

Die Unterkunft hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Die Kommunikation mit Vangelis war sehr nett und unkompliziert und ein früher Check-In kein Problem. Vangelis hat uns persönlich und sehr herzlich willkommen geheißen und uns mit Eiern und Ziegenmilch aus eigener Produktion versorgt. Unseren ganzen Aufenthalt über war er problemlos erreichbar. Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig und abgeschieden - perfekt zum Entspannen aber auch sehr nah bei Heraklion, Knossos und Archanes. Ein Auto braucht man allerdings. Dem Haus fehlt es an nichts und auch die Küche ist super ausgestattet. Nicht zu vergessen die aufmerksame Begleitung durch Hofhund Vito. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können diese Unterkunft vorbehaltlos empfehlen!
