Initial logs for wood burner included. Welcome pack.. Large lawned garden with patio and BBQ. 2 dogs welcome, to be kept on a lead at all times (sheep country). Bike store. Private parking for 6 cars. No smoking. Please note: There is a covered pond in the garden and a stream to the side and bottom of the property.. Set in the small village of Newchurch, this detached house was once a country inn and is full of character and charm. Newchurch is set just 7 miles from Hay-on-Wye which is famous for its many book shops and also the Hay Festival which takes place in May, attracting visitors from all over the world. With Hay-on-Wye and Kington Town being close by there are plenty of pubs and restaurants to enjoy, including many country pubs dotted along the England/Wales border. For those looking for a more active break, Offas Dyke Path passes right by the front door and offers stunning walks through the beautiful countryside. Nearby there is horse riding and canoeing. After a day exploring the area, relax in the well maintained, lawned garden with a glass of your favourite tipple. Shop and restaurant 7 miles, pub 3 miles.

Lovely, spacious, well-equipped cottage and the host couldn’t have been more accommodating. Newchurch is a few miles from the nearest pub, but lots of walks and places of interest are not far. We had a lovely stay, and the lemon drizzle cake made by the owner was the best we’d ever tasted!

A beautiful house with everything we needed, with a huge Christmas tree and tastefully decorated. A public bridle path, crosses the front of the house and runs along side and there is a fast flowing river on the other side of it, something to bear in mind if you bring dogs.

Great spacious, clean property. Everything was great and as described. A very nice touch of welcome basket with the most delicious Victoria sponge cake. The owner was very communicative and responsive, gave us tips and information on the local area. Walking footpath going through the property into amazing peak which is great if you like walks. Would highly recommen! .

Lovely old house with plenty of room and large well equiped kitchen. Local amenities as in shops, etc are a drive away, however we arranged for a shopping delivery early in our holiday so were set for the week. Brilliant views from the top of the hill behind the house on the Offa's Dyke walking route. Good base for visiting Hay-On-Wye. Other places to visit such as the Brecon Beacons are around 45 min drive.
It's a very quiet location - but that's exactly what we wanted.
Local amenities rated at 7 out of 10 as did not want this to detract from overall high rating - the lack of local amenities is because of the property's rural location and this was the reason for booking.
