MATHIS Retreat Ubud

Lovely view from the hotel's pool, peaceful ambiance with green and lush garden, amazing breakfast with lots of options, very friendly stuff. We enjoyed so much the pool after a hot long day in Ubud. The hotel is very close to one of the most beautiful walking path in the rice fields.

We were disappointed by the dinner in Mathis Retreat Restaurant, very pricey for the quality of the dish they provide and very small portions, the main course it has the size of a starter, maybe even smaller. For dinner time, the service is very slow and sometimes not very professional: we asked for french fries in 2 different occasions and every time they said they finished, even people around us they were served. Another down point, and shocking for us, they provided used slippers in the room....this is not what you expect from a high ratted hotel.

Nice property , exactly the same as the pictures. The food at the restaurant is excellent and the staff is professional, nice and friendly. The location is quite good as welll especially when tou drive a scooter or a car, you are not in the traffic in this area

There is no soundproofing between the rooms or with the hallway. I was woken up several times in the middle of the night by the noise of the neighbors' doors. You could even hear them turning on the air conditioning or taking a shower. On the other hand, the shower in the bathroom is very poorly designed. I didn't even wash my hair to avoid turning the bathroom into a swimming pool.

This review is a special big thank you for Bintang from reception, she helped me greatly when my rental scooter broke down far away. She mediated between the renal company, helped me to get to a garage and solved everything perfectly. So grateful!!! Everything, it was the perfect at Mathis, beautiful views and calm place to land back in Bali. So quite to sleep as well. I loved it so much I kept extending.

It has a great location and is relaxing and peaceful. The staff is very kind and helpful- they really make you feel welcome, and help the best they can. Shuttle service works great - could offer a home time from city around 19:00/20:00 would be great.

Web pictures and reality for the rooms does not match up. They need much better cleaning, bedding, lamp, fridge! The rooms could use a more modern look; lights, curtains, mirrors - small things but effective. Kitchen staff needs to work on their speed… took forever to get food - 2 boiled egg with toast - 25 min. or 1 club sandwich 45 min.
