About this apartment rental
If you like to stroll, hike, run, bike or swim in the ocean, this condo is close to the beach, parks, running and bike trails. Just about 1-1/2 miles to the beach, you’ll be steps away from Fairview Park and Talbert Nature Preserve in Costa Mesa. You’ll be 5 miles from Huntington Beach Pier; 7 miles from Balboa Island; 14 miles from the art colony of Laguna Beach, and only 13 miles from Disneyland. So, what are you waiting for?!!
The “Mermaid Lounge” has a kitchen, living/dining area, two bedrooms (plus loft), a full bath (Jack and Jill) and a half bath downstairs. With tile throughout, it’s okay if you bring in a little beach sand. Upstairs there’s carpeting in the loft next to the walk-in closet and a ¾ bath. According to VRBO, the average hotel room is 325 sq. ft. Here you can bring your groceries and spread out in about 1,300 sq. ft. Just right for a maximum of 6 guests. Master bedroom has a king size bed, loft has a queen size, and the “surf room” has a daybed and twin bed. Add a Pak n Play for little ones at no charge. The kitchen provides what you need for preparing meals with mostly new appliances; use spices, cooking oil, coffee, or anything you can find there. The washer and dryer are just around the corner in the hallway where you'll find all the laundry supplies you will need.
Clean, uncluttered and comfortable, you can unwind here or scurry off to your choice of Southern California attractions. You may even want to sign up for sailing lessons at the Orange Coast College School of Sailing and Seamanship whether you are just starting or have sailed before. You don’t have to leave Newport Bay to enjoy a fabulous day on the water. Rent a Duffy boat, order food and beverages or bring your own!
Head through Fairview Park and down the hill to pick up the Santa Ana River Bicycle Trail. Turn left and you’re at the beach in about 2.5 miles. Or, turn right and bike the rest of the 30-mile trail to Riverside County.
Oh, and if you play the piano …bring your music because we have one here!
Since the beginning of this adventure, all guests are asked to sign a one-page Rental Agreement and make a brief phone call to say "hello" and meet the owner, Kathleen, very briefly. You will be staying in my home! Thank you!

We had a great experience at the Mermaid Lounge. Kathleen could not have been more hospitable and made our stay perfect. The accommodation was wonderful. There was lots of room and she had everything we needed plus extras. One shower wasn’t working and within 24 hours she had plumbers there to fix it. It’s in a great location just a mile from the beach and she had beach chairs and beach towels for us to use. I would love to stay there again. Thanks Kathleen. Hope you are feeling better.

These days it’s difficult to find good old-fashioned kindness when renting a house. This was such a positive experience thanks to the kindness of the host. I enjoyed chatting with her on the phone to “meet” before we checked in. The house was perfect for our family of 3. Highly recommended!
