a stone-built appartments in the heart of the Pirgos area of Volissos, the most tranquil part of the village, with a view to Aegean sea. Elegantly decorated, fully equipped with a double bed and a sofa that can sleep one adult or two children, a bathroom with a shower and a kitchen that can support a holiday living. For the winter, there is also a fireplace, as well as air conditioning for both seasons.

Impressed as soon as I walked in: wine, olive oil, and bread had been left for me, and the masonry made you feel like you were living *in* part of the castle just steps away. From sitting in the kitchen and watching the sun rise, reflecting off the colored glass of the ancient church dome across the cobble stone path, to spending each evening on the patio, surrounded by a carefully manicured garden, watching the sunset over the Aegean Sea — pictures of this property and even of the island do not do it justice. The walk down into the village was different every time — there was so much to see from beautifully renovated homes, to picturesque ruins. As noted, the village is quiet, but all the better to get some work done as was my intention. I was here for two months and wish it had been longer. There is so much more to explore on the island. The locals and owners were nothing but accommodating. They were always available to message, with prompt reply. It really didn’t take long for this property to feel like a home and I cannot wait to return.

Le gîte bien situé ,offre l'essentiel pour passer un bon séjour.Nous avons apprécié sa terrasse avec vue sur la mer et le village (dommage qu'elle ne soit pas directement accessible depuis le logement). Les hôtes parlent français et sont très réservés.

Volissos is truly a magical place. A quiet village on a hillside, dominated by castle ruines. There are 2 supermarkets and several tavernas/restaurants in the village. The house is very comfortable, exactly like on pictures. It has everything needed for a short stay. Communication with Penny was excellent, she is a very generous host. To see more of Chios, a car is needed, because the bus connection is not good. We stayed for a month and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We can recommend the house without hesitation. Not going would be a mistake!
