Situated 300 metres from the beach, this holiday home lies close to the village of Elmer and within half a mile along the beach of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which stretches several miles from Elmer to Littlehampton. The beaches in this area remain quiet, even during the busiest summer periods and with man made rock islands just off the shore and accessible at low tide, the beach is wonderful to explore and is ideal for swimming, fishing, windsurfing and walking. Elmer is an ideal location to explore many of the attractions of the south coast from bustling Brighton, 25 miles, to the east to historic Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight to the west. In between there are beautiful places such as Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, quaint Arundel, 5 miles to the north with its castle, river, antique shops and famous wetland bird centre, Goodwood and Fontwell race courses and the beautiful South Downs are all close by. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Cockle Cottage suited us well. We were there for two weeks, mainly to visit friends and family, as we originally came from Bognor but now live in Yorkshire.. It was the ideal setting for us and wonderful to take my Golden Retriever, Poppy to the beach every day...just a short walk away. The cottage has everything you could need and was very comfortable...and just a short walk from The Elmer pub, which does excellent meals and Real Ale! We recommend Cockle Cottage to everyone....no matter your age. We are 74 and Mum is 93!

Cockle cottage was lovely. Just a couple of things to improve a stay. The plates and glasses were very dirty. I had to wash them before use. Not cleaners fault. The dirty plates were put under clean ones. The towels were so rough they actually scratched your skin. As if the soap had not been rinsed out of them. A dust pan and brush would have been handy.

The property was very cute and comfortable. Packed with all the comforts of home. The courtyourd garden was a sun trap and had lively flowers. We stayed for a week and had a wonderful stay.
