About this house rental

Tastefully renovated barn in extensive gardens situated in the heart of the DDay landings region of Normandy. (American sector).
Upstairs, stone walls and beams abound, some complete with their original bark!, the rooms are full of character but light and airy. The ground floor has a more modern feel. An open plan space with a fully-fitted kitchen and island breakfast bar, dining area and comfortable seating. This creates a lovely, light space that opens out onto the front terrace.
The terrace, overlooking our extensive lawned garden, is a real sun trap, especially in the afternoons and evenings where you can relax with a glass of wine or if you're feeling more adventurous, cook you own evening meal on the BBQ.
If by chance, you decide to come to come to our charming spot 'out of season', have no fear that you will be cold. The property is centrally heated throughout and has a log burner for that extra cosy feel! Ideal for a romantic weekend away from it all.
This is a very quiet spot in the Normandy countryside and sometimes all you can hear is birdsong. The chickens and cockerel next door occasionally let us know however, that we are in the country!
The area is steeped in WW2 history and there are so many sights to see including the beaches Utah and Omaha, museums, batteries, cemetaries and many other points of interest. Guided tours can also be arranged for our guests. Local sites include: Sainte Mere Eglise, ( The Longest Day) - 10 mins, Carentan - 10 mins, Utah Beach - 15 mins, Omaha Beach - 30 mins and indeed our own village of Houesville was featured in Spielberg's Band of Brothers. Our nearest museum is DDay Experience, only a stones throw away at St. Come du Mont with a 4D flight simulator and newly added 3D Cinema, but there are many more to visit at Utah, Carentan, Saint Mere Eglise and of course, Omaha. The British and Canadian landing beaches, Arromanches, Juno and Gold are a little further around the bay, but still no further than a 40 minute drive away.
Other interesting sites in the area include the ancient town of Bayeux, famous for the tapestry, Regional Cider Museum at Valognes, Parc du Contentin, our local nature reserve and Saint Vaast la Houge and Barfleur, pretty local fishing ports. There is also a different market in a different village or town everyday of the week specialising in local fish, friuts and vegetables, cheese bread, pastries and of course, the local cider and Calvados.
All in all, there is something for everyone here and Chris, my husband and I are just next door if you need any tips or help to make your stay even more enjoyable. Unique Normandy property that is wheelchair accessible!

Absolutely perfect! This is the ultimate VRBO to stay at in Normandy. Celia and Chris are phenomenal hosts. The Gite is beautiful, quiet, clean, and so relaxing. I would highly recommend for anyone who is going to view Normandy sites. The welcome we received was so warm, the wonderful welcome basket, Celia being available for questions and needed information made our stay a pleasure from start to finish. Rolo is a delight as well! We hope to return, and will definitely tell all our friends about C & C gite.
