About this villa rental
On top of a hill, only 5 miles away from the wonderful medieval town of San Gimignano, this one-of-a-kind ancient barn is nestled in the most beautiful Chianti countryside and has been recently finely converted into a fabulous designer villa.
Elegant and stylish details have been combined by the owner during the extensive renovation work to create a villa of rare beauty and charm, surrounded by the gorgeous typical Tuscan landscape, second to none for its striking beauty… 360° unobstructed views on the spectacular landscape and the medieval towers of San Gimignano can be enjoyed from almost every corner of the property.
The stunning views on the magical landscape with its perfectly kept vineyards and fields of olive trees together with the tranquility and privacy of the area create a relaxed, secluded and peaceful atmosphere, making the villa a truly ideal retreat for a perfect Tuscan vacation.

The villa’s large windows, shaded by bricks placed in diamond shapes (typical of the Tuscan barns) make the home a light-flooded heaven. The thorough attention to details, from the careful selection of the materials used, to the exquisitely appointed custom-made pieces and the vintage design furniture, where traditional features blend in with modern touches, has contributed into creating a charming, modern space that perfectly blends with the villa’s ancient structure.
Description of the exteriors.
Outside, on the east side of the villa, next to the kitchen, guests can enjoy a shaded veranda equipped for outdoor meals as well as a paved solarium area in front of the entrance. On the south west side of the house next to the barbecue, there is another terrace fully furnished with lounge chairs and a table for al fresco dining, surrounded by a large lawn with pomegranate & olive trees, roses and the most beautiful views of the countryside and on the medieval towers of San Gimignano!
In the garden, within a few steps from the main house, there is small outbuilding that has been converted into a guesthouse.
There is no pool at the property, there are public pools half an hour drive away.
Accomodation.
The main villa comes with two bedrooms and sleeps a total of 4 guests , 2 in the master bedroom with king size bed and 2 in the twin bedroom with separate single beds (an extra foldable bed for a child can be added upon request), while the independent guesthouse sleeps a total of 2 (it can be setup with either 2 twin beds or one Queen bed).
Final cleaning charges and cost of utilities based on meters are due as extras locally.
Please note that the price listed refers to the rent of the main villa only, access to the guesthouse (2 additional guests) can be added upon request at an extra charge.
Description of the interiors.
The entrance door leads to a loft interior with beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. The dining and living areas come with one fireplace each and are on split-levels, connected by a custom-made spiral staircase. A few steps down the staircase it is possible to reach the bedrooms, from which truly amazing views can be enjoyed.
Rooms description.
Main Floor (where the main entrance is located): fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, freezer, fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, orange squeezer), dining room with fireplace, spacious living room (fully furnished with comfortable sofas) that comes with a 2nd fireplace, Tv (with all main foreign channels, hi-fi, dvd player) and the most beautiful direct views on San Gimignano..
Lower Floors: A few steps down the large spiral staircase, there is the master bedroom (king bed) with walk-in closet and the master bathroom (with shower).
Down 8 more steps there is the second bedroom with two separate twin beds (with a direct access to the garden) and its adjacent bathroom (with tub).
At the bottom of the staircase there is a laundry room (also accessible from the outside) with a washing machine, iron and ironing board.
Guesthouse: one bedroom (with either two twin beds or one Queen bed), bathroom (with shower), kitchen.
Location details.
The villa is located just about 3 miles (5 km) from the village of Poggibonsi and about 5 miles (8 km) from San Gimignano, 23 miles (38 km) from Volterra, 23 miles (37 km) from Siena and 29 miles (47 km) from Florence. We are in the countryside with no close access to public transportation, so a car will necessarily be required for the holiday. Thanks to its strategic position, the villa is an excellent starting point for day trips to Volterra, Siena, Florence and all of the other characteristic hamlets in the wonderful Chianti area and it is also ideal for walks or horse-rides on the winding paths along the breathtaking countryside.
Thanks to a mild climate, San Gimignano and its surroundings offer a wide choice of activities that can be enjoyed not only during the summer, but throughout the year…art cities, inviting countryside for those looking to relax away from the busy pace of the city; villages nestled on ancient castles and a rich cuisine where you can find, unchanged, traditional local food and wine… These are just some of the characteristics that make San Gimignano and this wonderful part of Tuscany an ideal place to visit! To be discovered either on foot, by bike, or even better, on a horseback…
The nearest grocery shopping as well as the nearest supermarket can be found in Poggibonsi, just a few minutes away from the property. Excellent grocery stores selling some of the best local products such as fresh pasta and fresh cheeses, a famous butcher, a bakery and an excellent ice cream can all be found there.
The area of San Gimignano features excellent restaurants, which can be easily reached from the property within a short ride. Several more great restaurants can also be reached within a 20-30 minutes drive going towards Siena, in Monteriggioni and Castellina in Chianti or towards Florence.
The area also comes with really great wineries, where it is possible to purchase some of the best Tuscan wine as well as organize visits to the cellars and fabulous wine tastings..

Everything was just as stated in the listing or even better! Communication with the property manager was quick and friendly via What’s App. The home was a great place to base our time in Tuscany out of. It was short ways from Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, and several other towns of interest!! Highly recommend booking this property if you want a little down time to rest enjoy the beautiful Tuscan hills during your vacation!

Beautiful country setting on a hill near Poggibonsi with a stunning view of San Gimignano. Good restaurants in Poggibonsi about 9 kilometres away. You must book winery visits in advance Very well appointed villa, especially the kitchen. Enjoyed our week in May

The setting for the villa could not have been better. It overlooked the town of San Gimignano in the distance. The property was lovingly restored from a ruin to its current status and the attention to detail was evident! There was an olive grove on the property and we had the pleasure of watching them begin their harvest just before we left.
The villa was stocked with everything we needed, including a washer and dryer and the kitchen was very well equipped.
Having the bedrooms on 2 separate levels added to the privacy for each couple. The living room area was massive with comfy furniture. There was an outdoor dining table, but we were gone most of time sightseeing and exploring so we didn't use the outside space much.
The directions to the villa were perfect and the caretaker met us there and gave us a very thorough tour of the villa, explaining everything.
There was a PAM supermarket very close by that was absolutely wonderful. We also bought some smaller items like cheese and salami from local vendors at the market in San Gimignano.
We poked around San G and also went into Sienna and up to Greve in Chainti for a wine tour at Castello Di Verrazzano, which I would highly recommend.
Our host Christina was very responsive via Whatsapp and it is clear that this venture is a labor of love for her.
It was a bucket list wish to spend time in a villa in Tuscany and we are so happy we made it happen at Christina's villa.

We loved everything about our stay, from the very comfortable beds and living areas to the amazing trees and shrubs on the property and of course the amazing vistas!! We hired a fabulous tour guide one day and she took a picture of the vista it is so beautiful!!! We even nailed the many keys and Security system.Recommend stopping in poggibonsi for food and wine before arrival. Also come in with your cash for check-in because the ATM wasn’t easy to find. Thank goodness for Sergio, who helped us find one!! We cooked in a few nights, had breakfast at the outdoor dining table, hung laundry out to dry in the back yard, walked across the street for a relaxing and delicious dinner and drive all over Tuscany including a visit to Florence! Could have easily stayed longer and may come for a full week next time.
