About this villa rental
With its beautiful Alsatian red walls, this house stands out in the centre of the pretty village of Sewen, opposite the church and on the banks of the River Doller, which flows down from Ballon d'Alsace. The village's flower-covered facades, old coloured houses and old café lend it an air of charm. This former shepherd's house has been converted into a country holiday home. It is very comfortable and practical with its living room, dining room and open-plan kitchen. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms (with hammam shower, tub and shower) and 2 separate restrooms are spread between the ground and first floors, and the house can sleep up to 8 people. Behind the house is a terrace with garden furniture, barbecue and solarium. An ideal location, at the foot of Ballon d'Alsace, near the Alfeld and Sewen lakes, for walkers and hikers all the year round.
In the winter, guests can enjoy the Ballon d'Alsace ski resort that offers 10 slopes, from beginner to expert.

Bonne location, à noter : tout le linge de maison est fourni (draps, serviettes, torchons), le logement est très bien équipé, il y a une boîte à clés pour faciliter l'entrée dans la maison si le propriétaire n'est pas là. Côté literie : c'est très ferme! Pas de rebord au pied pour un lit double et 2 lits simples, ce qui est toujours plus agréable pour des géants comme nous.
Les petits couacs (pas graves) : il est temps de renouveler les poêles, les revêtements sont en très mauvais état. Associées aux plaques à induction, quelle galère pour faire sauter quelques pommes de terre... Le lave linge est allemand, une petite traduction ne serait pas de trop 😉
Très bonne situation géographique pour les amoureux de randonnée. Le village est très beau, le voisin d'en face (homme de confiance des propriétaires) très sympathique et de bon conseil.

Het huis ligt in een klein dorp aan de voet van de Ballon de l'Alsace. Het huis is voorzien van een ruime keuken met de nodige faciliteiten (o.a. Amerikaanse koelkast met ijsblokjesmachine). Wat wel tegenviel was het kleine bankstel dat ook nog eens was doorgezakt en de slechte matras op een van de bedden (veren waren goed voelbaar). Ook misten we een map met informatie over de woning en de omgeving (info over o.a. winkels en medische diensten).
De woning ligt midden in het dorp en de buitenruimte rond de woning biedt geen privacy.
Over het geheel genomen hebben we een prima vakantie gehad.

Sehr schönes gemütliches Ferienhaus am Bach direkt im Zentrum eines kleinen ruhigen idyllischen Dorfes. Das Ferienhaus ist sehr gut eingerichtet. Wir vermissten nur ein paar Haken im oberen Bad um die Handtücher aufzuhängen.

Lovely 4 bedroom cottage with comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms, top-class plumbing, great American fridge. The location was beautiful in a small village, next to a stream and a beautiful church with stunning views of the mountains/forests.Lots of great walks nearby. It was a very clean property (professional cleaning included as part of the very reasonable price). Despite the village the location is very isolated as no shops in this village and only 2 in the next (butchers and a bakers - a drive away). There is a restaurant in this village which we didn't visit. Nearest supermarket is about 10 mins by car.
We didn't actually meet the owners but they were very attentive and pleasant when we had a query about the dishwasher. The only thing I think people should be aware of with this property is that the garden and the hot tub are completely open. The houses are built close to each other and there is no screening between the front and back garden and the roads in the village or the house next door. When I first arrived I thought that this would put me off using the hot tub but it didn't as the village is quiet at night apart from some dog walkers and I quite enjoyed the view from the hot tub. Not sure I would have gone in during the day with the cyclists and the ramblers. I did worry that it would upset the neighbours when we were in the hot tub at night so close to their windows (we were quiet) but they didn't complain and were always very friendly whenever we saw them so hopefully not. Overall I would thoroughly recommend and thank you for a lovely stay.
