About this house rental
A spacious and comfortable gîte with a magnificent panorama of the picturesque town of Argenton sur Creuse from the house and big garden. Situated on a quiet street in the upper town, it is only five minutes walk from the centre of Argenton.
The gîte "Les cendrilles" occupies the ground floor of a large 18th century family house (the owner lives part-time on the first floor). It has a surface area of 100 m² comprising:
- fully equipped kitchen with country dining table;
- large living/dining room, with glass doors to the deck and garden;
- three bedrooms - one with a double bed (140 cm), the two others each have two single beds (90 cm). There is also a cot for an infant.
- Bathroom with walk-in shower;
- Separate WC.
The gîte has many pieces of beautiful old furniture - but also has wifi and TV, washing machine, dishwasher and lots of storage. Parking is in the front courtyard shared with the owner. The stone walls keep the gîte cool in summer and warm for the rest of the year.
The garden with fruit trees and grass (reserved for the gîte) occupies a terrace over the river Creuse, with magnificent views and is absolutely calm.
Argenton sur Creuse is the commercial and tourist centre of the southern part of the Indre department. It is the ideal base for visiting the region - Gargilesse and Saint-Benoît-du-Sault (both classed among the most beautiful villages in France), the Éguzon lake (with water sports), the Brenne Natural Park and the impressive Gallo-Roman ruins of Argentomagus - by car, bike or hiking. But it is also perfect for relaxation and recuperation!
Bed linen hire is included in the price charged by Abritel.
An additional option is available: end-of-stay cleaning (€ 50), to be paid on check-in at the gîte if you would like to use this service.

Our first visit was during the blistering heat of 2019 and we immediately booked a second visit hoping to explore more of the area. Covid prevented this until 2022.
The gite is comfortable and stylish; the garden a great asset with incomparable views over Argenton.. We were able to explore further and enjoyed many of the historical sites, the Brenne national park and a range of good eating places.
We hope to return and continue our explorations!

La maison de Jean Louis est spacieuse, d'une propreté impeccable, aménagée simplement mais avec goût, le jardin fleuri est vaste et la vue sur Argenton est splendide. L'accueil de Jean Louis est chaleureux, sa présence discrète. Un dépaysement de qualité.
