About this villa rental
Successfully agency rented for over 10 years, this is one of Cavtat's only original Arts and Craft 1920’s summer house. The villa is very special as it was built and owned by an English lady and her local husband - they were said to have been friends with King Edward V111 and Wallace Simpson who apparently stayed with them in this house during their whirl wind tour of the Dalmatian Coast in the 1930’s! The house has been host to some other very distinguished guests and during it’s time between the 2 world wars, famous visitors to visit include; George Bernard Shaw, Hilaire Beloc and Sidney and Beatrice Webb. It has been lovingly restored by its new owners into a warm and friendly family home and is furnished with some lovely old pieces especially brought over from England.
The villa has very spacious accommodation and is ideal for 2 families or a group. The panoramic balcony views make waking up in the morning a joy and the terrace in the garden is a lovely spot to enjoy at any time of the day or evening. There is also a separate ‘little house’ – this used to be the servants cottage and is now a studio apartment.
The walled garden is lush with Mediterranean plants and flowers and enjoys a very secluded position. Floranneve boasts a large pool and there is a summer kitchen/BBQ area for al-fresco dining for those balmy summer evenings. There is also the `moroccan' outside sitting room which is a wonderful area to snooze and read in the shade during those warm afternoons. Table tennis, badminton and other outdoor games are on hand for extra amusement. And the house is just a 5 minute walk to the sea - with its waterfront bars, cafes, shops and restaurants – Floranneve's location is ideal. Cavtat is loved by all who visit – a real ‘gem’ of a harbour, unspoiled and full of history, where freshly caught seafood and delicious local wines are on offer at great local restaurants and bars, Picturesque coves surround the the village peninsular and beautiful narrow little streets make up the water front 1700's architecture.

Cavtat is 10 minutes from Dubrovnik airport and about 20 minutes from Dubrovnik Old Town and apart from being beautifully scenic, the area has something for everyone - local activities include swimming, shallow-water and deep-sea fishing, sailing, motor boating, scuba diving, snorkeling, walking, mountain biking, horse riding, tennis, wakeboarding, water-skiing and lots of sea side activities. We had a great week at Villa Floranneve. The owner and house manager were extremely helpful before we arrived and during our stay. The house is set in large beautiful gardens close to the centre of Cavtat which is lovely and has a good selection of restaurants and bars, and plenty of places to swim off rocks or shingle. The garden, large pool and degree of privacy are the real attractions of this house. Internally the house was spotlessly clean and rather old fashioned but in keeping with its period. The modern kitchen was spacious and the main bathroom plus shower room on the top floor were nice. One small negative was the lack of a large umbrella next to the pool as it was very hot while we visited, however we moved some loungers into shaded areas in the garden. The teenagers loved the badminton court and tortoise in the garden. We felt the attic bedroom was quite dated and may be more suited to teenagers with the 1st floor kids room a better master bedroom as that had a larger, shaded terrace. Cavtat is a fabulous base for visiting Dubrovnik and we used the buses and boat to and from there, plus the friendly house manager took us to the hill above Dubrovnik in his large taxi, giving amazing views of the city, and collected us one evening from Dubrovnik, so a hire car isn't required. There is one small restauarant nearby that does take away pizza and grilled food, which can be useful if arriving late.Overall we had a fantastic holiday and can recommend the house.

Very nice place with a fabulous host in an excellent fishing village. Only remark is the noise from the nearby airport with the planes landing quite frequently.

Such a lovely house, in beautiful surroundings and within walking distance of everything, although I will admit the hill was a bit of a challenge at first!
We have been to Croatia before but have fallen in love with Cavtat, as it ticks all our boxes as a family.
We were looked after so well by our hosts, nothing was to much trouble and we are so looking forward to coming back next year!

This is a lovely house with fantastic amenities. Pool is superb. Location is great - quiet but 5 minutes walk from shops and restaurants. Highly recommended.
