The Boat and Breakfast

Location and the service. Outstanding. The host was brilliant (Nemo me impune lacessit)!

Location was wonderful, if you enjoy boats and water. Beautiful evening walk alongside the canal. Reasonably close to centre of town. Very friendly, great atmosphere. Very grateful to host for enabling me to collect item I left behind.

Breakfast was not especially good. Fruit and cooked part was good, but coffee was instant and bread/toast basic. Host not well up on recommending restaurants or where to go locally that was attractive, eg by the side of the river, near the centre of town, and how to get there. Cabin was airless. Needed a fan or something.

Great breakfast, amazing hospitality from all the staff we met. Very clean and cozy.

Friendly welcome. The manager hung on to meet me as I arrived later than the check in by 6pm (which I was unaware of). Lovely location at the harbour just over a mile from train station. It is a boat - a novelty!

Beware, the single cabin has a VERY narrow bed, it is about half the width of a normal single bed. The bed was very clean and neat but other bits of the room were a bit grubby, as was the shower (which was outside the room and in the alleyway). The bed was quite high (waste height) and the room (naturally enough as it is a cabin on a boat!) is small. Also beware, the tea & coffee facilities can be accessed before the 8am breakfast but you have to know to go through a door that has bungee ties across it making it look like it is out of bounds. It isn’t! I was unaware and therefore missed out on this facility, which would have been welcome as I woke at 5am and couldn’t find an access point. Also beware, it is a boat and noise travels. Doors opening and closing etc (hence me being a wake at 5am). Also there is (to be expected as it is a boat) engine noise of some kind - perhaps the electricity generator? Seemed to go on and off early evening but then did stop but not sure what time.
