About this villa rental

Casa Laura is set in the medieval village of Sillico, 700 metres above sea level in the Garfagnana valley, north of Lucca. This spacious villa offers not only comfortable accommodation but spectacular panoramic views of the valley, Apuan Alps and Appeninne mountains.

The villa is our home for a proportion of the year and is decorated and furnished in a blend of modern and traditional styles. We want you to feel at home even when you are away.

The villa and swimming pool is for the sole use of the family or party that have booked it.

An ideal location choice for either a holiday, a workcation or a flexcation stay. Please contact us for monthly discounts. We are happy to alter the accommodation layout to accommodate any work space requirements.

The Garfagnana has an enormous amount to offer anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Whether it's cycling and mountain biking, hiking, horse riding, canyoning, spending the day amoungst the trees on a rope course or crossing the valley on a slip wire. The areas' diverse natural enviroment is well suited to a wide range of outdoor activities.

Casa Laura's accommodation is divided over two floors. On the ground floor you have a lounge and study area complete with free WIFI unlimited internet access, a kitchen with dining area, bathroom and the twin bedroom.

The kitchen is spacious and well equipped with a five ring gas cooker and seating for 6.

Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a bathroom.

The large terrace is accessible from the first floor and provides a convivial area for al fresco dining and general relaxing.

The house also includes a wood burning pizza oven and off street parking for two cars.

A complimentary mid stay clean is available upon request.

If your holiday dates aren't being accepted by the system please contact me. I may be able to accommodate them.

The village benefits from having a combined popular restaurant, small shop and bar. There are well stocked supermarkets, independant shops, bars and a choice of restaurants a short drive away in Pieve Fosciana.

A perfect base to discover the popular destinations of Lucca, Barga, Pisa, Florence and Siena either by car or by train from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. The Ferrari museum and race track at Maranello and the World Heritage site, Le Cinque Terra also make great days out. Seven walking paths start and finish in Sillico, enabling you enjoy, relax and emerse yourself in the natural beauty of the countryside. L'Orrido di Botri, a natural gorge and La Grotta del Vento are also worth a visit.

We live a short distance away and are on hand as much or as little as required. We always try to welcome our guests upon arrival and settle you in. Our reviews give an unbiased judgement and truthfull picture of our villa and the surrounding area.

We really loved the house, swim pool and area. A lot of hikes possible from te house. Visits to Lucca, Pisa, Florence etc all duable although keep in account you first need to descend the mountain which will take you around 15-20 minutes. A lot of animals in the area too, so if you drive back in late evening you might spot boars, deers, foxes and we even saw some cows. The owner is very friendly, kind and helpful in all ways. We loved to bake our own pizzas in the pizza oven. We were lucky we could enjoy the yearly medical festival of the village Sillico, which is a lovely village and they have a nice restaurant which is also selling bread, cheese, meet (almost every day). Supermarktes in the village downhill, one coop a bit expensive, the other next to each much cheaper and has good quality too.

We stayed ten nights at Casa Laura and had a lovely time. The weather was mixed but that didn’t matter. Beautiful walks signposted from the village were great for exploring the amazing Chestnut Woods. The views and sunsets were stunning. A great peaceful house in a beautiful village, high in the mountains. Yvonne was nearby if you needed anything. .

We enjoyed a very pleasant week in Yvonne’s and Delfo home. They were more than friendly and very helpful. The home was very clean, all rooms spacious with very comfortable beds. the was kitchen very well equipped and spacious. The weather was hot so we enjoyed the lovely garden, terrace and swimming pool. And the little historical town of Sillico was well worth visiting.

After a long and tiring journey we arrived to Casa Laura and we all agreed - this must be paradise! We had read the description and seen the pictures, but you have to see it to really get the full picture. The view is breathtaking and the house is really well-maintained, clean and spacious and has everything you could possibly need. Except maybe a microwave, but we managed without it :-) Yvonne and Delfo har great hosts and helped us with everything from wine tasting tips to a mechanic when we had a flat tire.We spent a lot of our time on the terrace; eating, sunbathing and enjoying the pool and the view. We even tried the pizza oven! We also took a few daytrips; Pisa, Firenze (stayed 1 night), Viareggio, La Spezia, Cinque Terre and Castelnuovo are all within 2 hours by car, though we really recommend taking the train from Lucca to Firenze and back. The village restaurant is really good and the village itself is so beautiful, so be sure to take the time to explore it.Another restaurant we really enjoyed was Antica Locanda di Sesto, just outside Lucca on the way back to Sillico. A real gem with great food and wine, and amazing olive oil!We would recommend this house to everyone who wants a relaxing holiday and we hope we can go back sometime in the future. Thank you Yvonne and Delfo for letting us live in your beautiful home and for all your help!
