    Fantastic location opposite the station. Friendly staff, very comfy bed. The room was lovely and stylish with a great view out over Edinburgh towards the castle. Fab cocktail bar too.

    The hotel is just opposite of the train station and 5 mins walk to St James’s Quarter, so it’s super convenient. Unfortunately there was a false fire alarm at around 6am and since there’s no in house telephone in the room, there was no way to verify before evacuating the hotel. After getting down to the lobby, the staff just casually said it was a false alarm without even apologising to any of the guests who all got woken up by the alarm. On top of that, one section of the carpet on the fire escape stairs weren’t bolted down and the old lady in front of me almost fell over.

    The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. Location is fantastic. The room is a perfect blend of comfort and luxury and I would highly recommend this place.

    I stayed there for 2 nights. On the 1st night I saw a large fly in the room. I thought it could have flown in when the main door was opened. However, on the second evening, to my horror, there were the giant flies flying around in the bathroom, at least a dozen. I quickly shut the bathroom door and called reception. While the staff kept apologising it seems they are aware of this fly issue. I was given an option to change room which was an upgrade (as was told that's the only room available). I enquired where did all the flies come from and how did they managed to get into the room? But the staff kept quiet, and deflected the question. The cleanliness of the hotel is of concern.
