Good quality clean room and decent facilities in ideal location for exploring Brighton. Car parking in the area expensive but close by.

We booked here for a NYE stay into a deluxe double room. Although the room was perfectly nice, I was expecting a little more for what we paid. There were some nice touches, like the dog treats and some little chocolate gifts, but all in all the room was pretty basic for the money paid. It was also directly in the courtyard so both windows offered little to no privacy if the curtains were open. I was expecting a little more based on the hotel reputation - and have stayed in much nicer hotels for less money. Most frustratingly, we had booked into the hotel restaurant for a NYE dinner via the hotel website for four people including one wheelchair user and had received email confirmation of the booking. Upon asking reception a question regarding the booking early evening, we were told the restaurant was fully booked and they would have to cancel our booking. Apparently the website was allowing to people to book even when they were fully booked. This was mere hours before we were due to have dinner, and being NYE alongside having a wheelchair user in our party, we were left pretty stuck and disappointed. After asking to discuss this with a manager, we were told the tables had already been set up and there was nothing they could do to accommodate. The receptionist did offer to try and help us find an alternative, but at 6pm on NYE this was incredibly frustrating and we were offered nothing to compensate. I didn't feel the staff were particularly helpful or empathetic and although the woman I was directly engaging with was apologetic, some other members of staff seemed a little rude. All in all I'd be reluctant to stay here again after such disappointment, despite the fact the location was brilliant and it's one of the most recommended hotels in Brighton.
