First inpression was small hotel, small lift. Room has limited space to open two large luggage but within the room is generally fine, feels clean and room is quiet - did not feel affected by noise from the street or in the corridor. Room does not have a properly blocked shower, so it is more suitable for solo or couple stay. Location - not the best proximity to public transport. Seems in the middle of several options but all requires a bit of walk. Equal walking distance to a shopping neighbourhood. Our stay was very badly affected by the staff service. We checked in early but room was not ready, we handed over our passports and did the check in procedure, told we will have our luggages in the room when it is ready. We came back to the hotel after check in hours, had to redo the check in procedure with a different person, and had to take our luggages up ourselves. Perhaps this wasn't a hotel where staff will provide luggage assistance so I didnt bother too much. When opening the room door for the first time, we were surprised the door was not shut. It seemed like a technical problem with the lock, where it bolted before the door shuts. It was a simple fix to tap the card to unbolt the door, then we will be able to press the door handle. However we realized later that it didn't seem right the door bolts when we release the handle and leave the door to shut itself. We managed to deal with it so we didnt make a big deal out of it, since we only had 2 nights there. On the second day morning, we realized we could be locked in our room. Fortunately one of us was outside the door when it happened, and we slid the key under the door to free the person inside. We informed one person at the reception who behaved like our story was incredulous as he has not heard this before. Then he told us to talk to his colleague in the next counter, very disinterested in saying anything more. I was shocked by that attitude as both staff were within earshot and he could have spoken to his colleague, instead he simply told me to talk to the other guy, who heard the whole story but didnt offer any help until the issue was directed to him. I had to ask him if he heard what i said. He did but said he's never heard such issue before, once again with the attitude that my story was simply impossible. He was only convinced when he was stuck in the room, and even then he still maintained that he never experienced this before. The staff offered to have the technician fix the door while we were away. As I had my things all over the room, I said we will let them know when we are ready for the technician to come and investigate the issue. I also had the "do not disturb" sign on. Later in the same day, we got stuck in the room and had to call reception to open our door. This time another staff member assisted us and was very nice and apologetic about the situation. We had a conversation with the staff about how we are leaving the next morning and we will get ready earlier in case the door still had issues, but otherwise we didnt speak about getting anything done given that we were checking out soon. As part of his good service, he also offered to book us a cab for our flight next day and we really appreciated this stark contrast in service. Again in the same day, we left the hotel briefly and came back to see our room door open, the technician at the door. "Do not disturb" sign was still on. I was very surprised given the sign and the earlier conversation. While I appreciate the good service and perhaps the staff's initiative to fix the problem, I am also surprised how the "do not disturb" sign was so easily disregarded. All in all, kudos to the good service from that particular staff member - if not for that it would've been an utterly bad experience; at the same time hotel rooms are such private spaces that guests should be able to trust the significance of the "do not disturb" sign.
