Cannery Row Inn

The hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to cannery row and old fisherman Wharf. The hotel isn’t a new hotel but the room was really clean. The room had a microwave and a refrigerator with a small freezer. You can hear the sea Lions when you walk outside where they all are regularly at San Carlos Beach. There aren’t many amenities but they have a filtered water station, coffee, ice machine and a soda machine which is more than I would expect for the price. The only complaint I would say was that our shower head was really low and I had to crouch to shower my head (and I’m not tall). Overall a great place to stay on a budget.

Nice friendly staff and great location.

Great location and parking was convenient (you pay extra for parking on arrival). Room was spacious and had a big bed. Could hear neighbours baby crying through adjoining door but couldn't really hear any traffic noise. It was fun that you could hear sea lions. We had the room with a partial view of the sea, which was nice because it had a balcony to sit and watch the sea. Reception for check in only seemed to be open until 9pm. Room is a bit dated and shower pressure isn't great not the hotel hair dryer, but it was good for the price, so I'd stay again. Receptionist when we arrived was very helpful and friendly.

Location location location. My wife was getting SCUBA certified at San Carlos Beach, right next to Cannery Row Inn. I was able to walk from our room to the beach in under 2 minutes, making it easy to support her, bring her snacks and hot coffee between dives, etc. Our room also had a small patio with a hose I could use to rinse off her gear. Very convenient. The inn is also adjacent to the Monterey Recreation Trail, and within walking distance to all the amenities of Cannery Row, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium. No need to drive anywhere. However, don't expect much more than a place to sleep. The room was clean, but minimalist. No chairs or desk (there were two chairs and a small table on the patio). The bathroom was retrofitted for disabled people in wheel chairs, which would be fine, except there was no shower curtain and the bathroom was not designed with a central drain, so water got all over the bathroom when we showered and had to be mopped up with a towel. Breakfast is not available (though many local cafes are nearby), and parking, while available, costs an extra $16/day. Staff did promptly replace our minifridge after I reported it wasn't working, so they are responsive. Overall, I've never paid so much for such low-end hotel, but the location is so good and all other options nearby were at least as expensive, so I would stay again. If you're price sensitive and care much more about the location than the hotel itself, this is the place for you in Monterey!
