Large countryside villa, built in the seventies, 300 sq. m. with 5 double bedrooms, 1 additional single bed and 3 bathrooms suitable for 11 persons with a garden, private swimming pool and wide open areas perfect for spending your time outdoors. The bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning. The house is ideal for small groups of friends.
Outdoors and Swimming Pool
The villa is completely enclosed, with a large, well-kept lawn with tall plants measuring over 400 sq. m. on three sides of the house, perfect for staying outdoors and having barbecues. In a sunny, panoramic position, just lower than the house, is a rectangular swimming pool, 4 metres by 9 with a depth of 1.5 metres, externally paved on the shorter side and complete with sunbeds, outdoor shower and some shaded areas for relaxing or admiring some beautiful sunsets. Parking is inside the property.Interior
The villa has been refurbished recently, with particular attention to detail and a classic style of furniture which creates a relaxing atmosphere. The house is on two floors. The main entrance is accessible from one of the outdoor paths. On the ground floor you will find the large, fully-equipped kitchen with dining table, satellite TV and fireplace, a living room with sofas and satellite TV, a double bedrooms with a four-poster bed and large windows, one bathroom with shower and washing machine. A staircase leads to the first floor, where there are 2 large double bedrooms with view and access to the outdoor terrace, 1 double bedroom with additional single bed and access to the outdoor terrace, 1 bedroom with a double four-poster bed, 2 bathrooms, one with two sinks and bathtub, the other with shower.
Location
The villa is part of a large farm, surrounded by vineyards which produce great wine, in a raised position with a breathtaking view of the medieval towers of San Gimignano.

Nido del Merlo has Wifi, central heating, air conditioning in the bedrooms, high chair, mosquito screens in the upper floor bedrooms, 3 bikes, parking.
Services
The price includes: bathroom, bedroom and kitchen linen as well as swimming towels (changed weekly), water, gas and electricity (but not air conditioning and heating), internet, baby bed and high chair. Upon request and to be paid for at the property are hired help, cookery courses, dinners, outings and product tastings.

Swimming pool open from 1st April to 20th October (9am-8pm). The owner lives on the ground floor, but with independent access from the garden.

We could not be happier with our stay at Nido del Merlo.Patricia, Camilo and Maria were so welcoming and made our stay delightful. We also participated in one of there special meals, the food and atmosphere was the best on our 2 week trip.

The property is beautiful but it is the warm hospitality of Patrizia and Camillo that made our stay so very memorable. They went above and beyond and provided us with an authentic Tuscan experience. Their thoughtfulness and generosity was remarkable!

What a wonderful time my cousins, sister and friends had at this VRBO in San Gimignano! Our hostess was outstanding! There was food and Italian delicacies awaiting us upon our arrival. The views were amazing. I can only hope that we can return there sometime in the future!

Overall a good stay. The house is a bit quirky as its quite old but overall in good condition. It definitely needs to be renovated though to bring it up to date.
Unfortunately the beds are super old box springs. The first night we go no sleep at all due to the first mattress we slept on being hard as a rock. The next night my wife and I tried a different bedroom and the mattress was so old the middle dipped completely and was super squeaky. We had to sleep with a pillow between us so we didn't roll into each other. The third and 4th night we just slept in different bedrooms so we could get a bit of sleep. Not ideal for vacation.
Overall the family who lives there and manages the property were incredibly nice, the AC worked well and we generally had a good stay. We loved the pool.
Oh, their dog barking at 4am wasn't ideal each night.
But to end on a positive note the location and view is amazing. just 15 minutes from San Gimignano and with a killer view. I feel bad leaving this review, but I guess it is what it is.
