Come to the magnificent Mendocino Coast, enjoy the cool Ocean breezes in the Summer months, cozy peaceful Fall and Winter… and gorgeous Spring! This beautiful magical cottage has been lovingly restored and renovated to reflect the natural beauty of the property. Majestic redwoods, rhododendrons, fuchsias, camilla trees and exotic Japanese Maples grace the completely fenced in yard. Please note: The cottage shares garden spaces and fenced area with the main house, Luna, which is where we (Owner) live. As a Guest, you have full and complete Privacy and run of ALL garden areas and spaces while you are here...that includes your fur-baby(s)!

Sit on the deck and enjoy morning tea or coffee (complimentary variety of organic teas and coffee), or an evening glass of wine, also included is a Complimentary Bottle of wine from a local winery! The hot tub is always available for soaking away all of life’s stresses…!

Marvel at all the beautiful repurposed old growth redwood that graces the pergola, window sills, door casings and frames the stained glass windows created by a local artisan and friend, Tangerine Steinbrecher - Atmospheric Glass. Kitchen cabinetry custom made by a local woodworker and teacher at the Kernov Fine Woodworking School in Fort Bragg - Greg Smith. You will certainly feel all the love and energy that went into revitalizing this magical little cottage!

This was an amazing place to stay! Perfect for my family and I we were close to Mendocino Village and a couple different beaches! Being able to sit on the patio and just watch my daughter wander around the “jungle” was amazing to watch along with the fairy lights. We were would definitely rent again!

This is the perfect place to stay just outside the town of Mendocino if you’re looking for a serene escape under the redwoods and stars. Several hummingbird & butterfly friends swoop down to say hello as you rest in the hot tub or sip a beverage on the porch. The Echo cottage was a great way to relax after bopping around towns, rivers & beaches.

We love the Mendocino coast line but unfortunately did not enjoy our stay in the cottage. We had expected more privacy along with the peace & serenity. The cottage is in the backyard of the main house and it is very close quarters. While we appreciate the hosts efforts to give us privacy(they shut their blinds), we did not like having a view of their house, how close it was, felt not very private for the hot tub, etc. -all you could see out the bedroom was the main house. Furthermore, the cottage is right on the road and while it is not super noisy...you definitely can hear traffic. Also we really enjoy cooking when we stay at VBRO and this was super nice but very tiny -- not a great place to cook a more complex meal. You have to move things to use things, not ideal. The cottage had some beautiful details and craftsmanship as well as the landscape was lovely but there were too many negatives -- very tiny, not comfortable furniture, bed/pillows and too little privacy especially considering the upper end cost for a mid week winter time stay. The hot tub was cold on the first night. It did heat up for the second night, however, there was not enough water in it which caused a very noisy jet that was blowing air.
Please note that there is a 3 night minimum stay. We informed our host after one night that we would be checking out early and asked for a reimburesement for the final night- it was not granted.
