This iconic Joshua Tree getaway is one of a kind.
Enjoy breathtaking views from our private hilltop estate overlooking Joshua Tree National Park. Guest amenities include an infinity pool and jacuzzi with sweeping views, campfire garden, outdoor dining, private hiking trail (on the property), open concept layout, bar area and much more.
Upon entering the house you'll be greeted with a bright, open concept living space. The dining room features a modern dining table that comfortably seats eight. Settle up to the bar and summon the bartender of the group to whip up a delicious mixer while you mingle with your guests.
The entire front of the house is wrapped by a large balcony overlooking the desert and mountains. Two sets of large sliding glass doors lead from the house to the patio – one just off the yoga space/family room, and the other from the living room and kitchen area.
On the patio is a large outdoor dining table, stainless steel grill, lounge area, and sunset lookout.
Just beside the balcony and up a few stairs is the gated large infinity pool & jacuzzi. This space is equipped with lounge chairs and other pool amenities. Please note, the built-in pool and jacuzzi are not heated, but the above-ground jacuzzi under the gondola is heated 24/7.
Between the pool and the hiking trail, guests will find our firepit garden (run on propane gas). Around the firepit are 6 large chairs.
Behind the firepit and at the end of the road entryway, guests will find our private hiking trail. Take only a few steps and you'll find 360-degree views of the valley, Joshua tree park, and mountain ranges. Along the trail is a bench and viewing area perfect for relaxing and taking in the sunset.

Good: When we arrived the host left lights on for us in case we arrived at night which we did. The house had everything we needed. Plenty of towels, comfortable clean beds with extra pillows and bath towels everywhere you look. In rooms in bathrooms. Floors were very clean which was nice on the feet. The pool had the best view and the hot tub was clean and hot. The house was clean and had plenty of utensils and garbage bags. The decor was lovely and rustic. We had a foosball table which was fun for the kids. Nice short drive to town. The cooling in the house was great considering the heat was 100 plus degrees when we visited. Cons: The driveway is a little nerve racking because the property is up on a rustic hill which has a rough country type road that is on the edge of a steep hill but we got used to it. If you can, back into the driveway, so you can come and go easier. The map found it quickly. The house is well used and had paint nicks but it is a large house that can accommodate a lot of people so with the traffic it has Its not surprising and it wasn't excessive the house felt clean and well maintained. The light switches are wonky and hard to figure out. Pool light couldn't be found and may be inoperable. Didn't have a chance to ask host about it but we still had fun swimming at night. All around we loved it and plan to come back next year with more of our family. Recommend!

This property offers breathtaking sunsets, sunrises, and valley views, creating a truly remarkable setting. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub extensively, relaxing in the cooler evenings with stargazing and even witnessing a shooting star. The house maintained a comfortable temperature throughout the hot July months. All appliances and the BBQ were fully functional, making meal preparation easy for our group of nine, with quality utensils, plates, bowls, and cups.Finding accommodations suitable for nine adults, two elderly family members, and two large indoor dogs was challenging, but Sunset House made it possible. It provided five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, and generous prep areas, ensuring we were never crowded. The numerous windows allowed us to enjoy scenic views from almost anywhere inside.My first experience communicating with the FIELDTRIP team was very positive—prompt, friendly, and helpful, earning a five-star rating. We loved the daily hot tub, games, air hockey table, ample pool towels, and user-friendly washer and dryer. Parking for four cars and full house and garage access were appreciated. We hope to return; our stay was truly magical.

Exactly as pictured, the views were stunning and the home was very clean and spacious. Host/Fieldtrip was wonderful to work with. They were on top of all communications and checking in to make sure everything was going well. Couldn't have asked for a better home and host to stay when visiting Joshua Tree. 10/10 would definitely book again!!!
