The host was lovely and generous. I was a bit surprised to find I was the only person staying, and Mathieu made a real effort to make me feel welcome. The breakfast was delightful, and the hostel pets were really friendly and absolutely adorable. Location-wise, prepare to be driving around hairpins, but the views are phenomenal, and there's a nice walk down to the lake past pear trees and with wild thyme on the path. It has a stove too which would be gorgeous in the winter and later autumn.
It wasn't clear upon booking that the restaurant might not actually be open unless enough people were there, so I arrived hungry and frazzled after a long drive to find no hope of food or use of a kitchen, which would have been ideal. You can't access beer unless the host is there, and it's a bit of a walk to the bathroom. But it is a really lovely, simple Gite.
