About this apartment rental
In one of the oldest and most beautiful parts of the university town of Freiburg im Breisgau, close to the Black Forest and the city center, we offer a 2-room apartment. ()
The romantic, crooked former day laborer's house dates from the 18th Century.
The apartment is on the 1st First floor and consists of living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, together 45 square meters.
Furnishing:
• Gas central heating, hot water, shower
• Kitchen with gas stove, electric oven and fridge
• sofa bed and dining table in the living room
• a double bed (180cm x 200cm) in the bedroom
The apartment is not suitable for very tall people (ceiling height 1.90 m to 2 m) or for people who are very sensitive to noise (church bells).
The house is on Kirchplatz, the center of Freiburg-Herdern. Herdern is a former wine-growing village on the edge of the Black Forest, which was connected to the Freiburg city center by a quarter with Art Nouveau houses (Neuburg) around 1900.
There is a supermarket, café, bakery, health food store and several restaurants on the church square.
The café / bakery "La Spelta, the spelled bakery" is directly opposite the apartment
The farmers' market takes place on the square on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The city center (Münster) is 1.5 km (20 minutes on foot, 5 minutes by bike). A bus runs from the church square to the city center every 20 minutes.
The Black Forest begins after 500 m to the east. There are numerous hiking trails, except for the 737 m high Roßkopf and the nearest town St. Peter (20km)
A sofa bed in the living room allows the accommodation of 2 additional people, each with an additional charge of 15 € / person.

A great little property set in a good location for exploring the surrounding area.
It has everything you might need to self cater and was very clean.
The floorboards creak (a lot) and even when you make the slightest movement in bed so maybe limits the full romantic experience 🤔

We had a lovely stay-- the apartment was cozy and well-appointed, and it's located an easy 25 minute walk or short tram ride from the Alstadt/Old Town. Grocery store and multiple bakeries are directly across the street.
We knew this going into the booking, but the host's warning about the church bells is accurate-- they do a vigorous toll at 7am sharp each morning. But, it can be part of the charm for an early riser :)
Highly recommend and would stay again, thanks to Lara and Karla for a great booking!

This was a creaky and crooked old apartment but was so well refinished. It was clean and modern and right on a square. It is convenient to restaurants, bakery and a grocery store. It is only a few blocks walk to the main road where the local tram gives access to all of Freiburg. The price was very reasonable.
